Difference is your friends don’t have the influence like this guy does. If one of my buddies picked this island to be on he would be all alone actions like this are beyond forgivable

Yup that’s true, I wouldn’t have liked the post if I were Cody, but that’s why I pried to see what his true stance is, and my concerns were eased. I get that these influencer type guys have to spray likes around to keep their name seen. While this was probably a poor one to double tap, at least his actual stance is solid.

I woke up to the Insta post from TSD and was hoping it was just a joke. I've never heard of this guy but I sure hope Sitka distances themselves from him.

I'm also hoping that a few of the likes were accidental (Matzinger, Rich Outdoors, etc) just scrolling and never heard the BS message.

What is this industry turning into smfh

Rich outdoors just responded on the TSD post. Basically says he disagrees 100% with him, but he is a friend and is entitled to his own views. Thats fine, but using made up facts to influence people on your giant social media following, about a subject you know nothing about, is beyond just having an opinion.

Some of y'all are acting like triggered liberals thinking about Chik Fil-A here... lawd help us all.

We really need to come up with a name for the hard core conservatives that act just like liberals when they hear something they dont want to hear.

Ya and a name for instafamous "hunters" that join forces with known anti HUNTING activists to spread heavily skewed "stats" in an effort to further regulate a constitutionally protected right. You're right, what is there to be bothered by?????

Apparently he didn't feel too strongly about his "greater good" stance, since he's deleted everything. Who knows, maybe he didn't know the guy supported relisting of the Grizzly and demonizing hunters (see the "my moms not a trophy" pic). But guess what, he should've.

I get it, he's bros with all the kool dudes on tha 'gram, lives in a tiny house, probably recycles, and calls himself a "huntsman". Awesome. He's also helping promote a left wing activists agenda, which aint cool. And all the lemmings that take everything for face value might actually believe the crap he said in the video he was so ashamed of he took down.

If you go read my past posts you will find that I agree that there needs to be repercussions for this. I have never not stated that, from the beginning. The part that gets me is that people are calling for all these companies/individuals that are sponsored by said companies to make a statement and defend themselves for being associated with him or a company that he works for. Everyone wants everyone to be responsible for their own actions, then when that happens everyone wants anyone they are associated with to answer for his actions.

I guess that we can agree on. Sitka knows who this guy is, like I stated previously, I doubt they care. Or even should. However if someone doesn't want to associate with a company that promotes an employee with such beliefs, spend your money elsewhere. I have not and will not call for him to be fired, disciplined, or for a statement to even be made. Honestly Im glad we get to know what the folks behind the scenes really believe. I have a feeling if people in other .org's spoke their mind as flippantly as Post did people would be weeping as they scrolled through their instafeed. If you honestly don't believe most "famous" or "popular" hunter persona's on social media wouldn't do the exact same thing for a few likes and shares (IE $$$$$), you're kidding yourself.

Im wary of anyone that waxes poetically about ethics, morals, and the sanctity of hunting. Usually its just projection.......$$$$$

I don’t own Sitka, but if they come out and say we 100% disagree with him, but he’s free to say what he wants, I support that.

I don’t think a conservative should be fired from google or Facebook, same goes the other way around.

I have crazy liberal friends I grew up with that live in Portland, so I know what it like to read a friends post and gag.

I agree with everything you just said. Minus, if I was Sitka I would fire the dude. Like most I would like to see them make a statement about this and for the love hope its that they dont support anything he said.

What baffles me is that people want it right now. Give them some time to put a statement together and formulate it so it makes sense. With the scrunity that people put on everything, its only fair to give them some time to make sure that a statement is formulated.

My question is does Sitka not vet their employees. Guy's wife is a big wig with HSUS probably a red flag, guy has never killed anything probably another red flag to a hunting company, guy associates with people who sabotage draws and get hunts cancelled probably another red flag. Oh well he will probably be a guest speaker at the next BHA rendezvous.

Just to clarify.. from what I understand, the guy in the video with Charles, Blake Mycoskie is the owner of Toms shoes. Blake’s wife Heather is a big wig with HSUS and the founder of shoot em with a camera. Not Charles wife, who appears to be an artist.
Not defending the affiliation( in fact, I got the Shoot em w/a camera GoFundMe shut down for a few days), just pointing out that Sitka is not, to my knowledge, employing someone married to a high up in HSUS

Itching to blame Sitka as a company for the actions of one rando employee (who might not even be an employee anymore) and claim that they must share the same views as him through association is a serious snowflake move... like straight out of their playbook.

Also, I am a large in most Sitka shirts and a 34 waist 32 inseam in their pants and am more than willing to dispose of any of their unclean goods.

That shit is hilarious. Maybe not perfectly representative of what orion was getting at, but clever none the less. This is the best thread of the year.

Got a reply from Sitka:

Hey ******** -

Values are important. We continue to stand firm in support of hunters and
their 2nd Amendment rights. We have many independent contractors
associated with our business. The personal views of our contractors do not
represent those of SITKA Gear.

Thank you,
