Dude, there is a huge difference between "fighting for your rights" and refusing to hire people to a job based on their personal beliefs. If that is your view of how you fight for your rights, you have already lost.

Do you think RMEF should hire anti hunters and anti 2A individuals? Yes personal beliefs do matter in some industries especially if your personally beliefs have the ability to negatively impact share holders and the bottom line.

If the employees beliefs and actions , even off duty, are in direct contradiction and harmful to the business plan and financial outcome of the company hiring him that company should be forced to hire and keep that person employed?

Show me a legal precedent where this has been upheld?

Can teachers and cops work in strip bars off duty? Can someone in Amazon join the KKK and post on social media and keep his or her job?

Would Sitka keep a vocal active ISIS terrorist who was just let out of prison and calls for the deaths of all Jews on his Instagram as a spokesman ?

Will rockslide hire Humane society and PETA activists to moderate on here now to support the first amendment?

Sitka isn't the RMEF. One is a non-profit with an advocacy mission that partly contains hunting, the other a for-profit corporation. So comparing the two is ridiculous. And I promise you there are plenty of RMEF employees, contractors, and volunteers who think there should be tighter gun controls.

Do you think that [any corporation] should refuse to hire you because you think that magazine restrictions or "assault" weapons bans are infringements on your rights? If yes, at least you're consistent. But, 2A advocates are going to be on the losing end of that approach.

They do it all the time

What you have said is in no way what I said.

I am not talking about legal precedent. Of course companies can and should hire and fire whoever they want (in my opinion). If Sitka chose to fire this guy, that's fine by me. They are a private actor and can do whatever they think is in their interest. But, clamoring for that kind of world and being a part of the mob is going to bite you in the ass when you are in the minority. That is my point. This is a losing strategy, and in the end is not the way to grow the base of people who support the 2A or hunting. It just will mean that as a supporter of these things you can't get a job anywhere except the hunting or shooting industry which is very small.

Sitka is a hunting company, to have an employee putting out public service messages with anti hunters and anti gun individuals and that employee trying to become an internet sensation does go against everything Sitka stands for, just read their stewardship page and tell me how this employee didn’t go against everything Sitka has stood for? Yes if an employee goes on social media and negatively effects the company then they shouldn’t be an employee. Also this guy clearly has his affiliation with Sitka plastered everywhere he is on social media, because he wants you to know who his employer is. He clearly put out his personal views which he is more then welcome to do but that also can come with consequences especially if it hurts his employer.

If that view on assault weapons hurts the company financially and you are plastering who your employer is to further your following online, hell yeah the company can fire you. I have to sign an annual social media clause as do many that work for major companies, there are things you can and cannot do or you can lose a job.

Guys, I got antsy last night and torched my Sitka gear. I figured, if they come out clean, I'll get new gear and Sitka gets more money, and I support the hunting industry, win win win right?

Still anxiously waiting.....

I'd be willing to bet that there are employees of firearm manufacturers that would support tighter gun controls....and oil execs that drive a Tesla....

At what point is it ok not to be walked on like a cheap rug. I agree the pitch fork mentality is not good but damn there has to be a point where a person and group can stand up for them selves with out being a bigot or a racist or part of the mob. I feel a lot of people who have hunted and been in the out doors and shooting scenes for along time are starting to tire of this new modern hunting movement and them tell us how we should act or what is acceptable.

Really I think there is a difference between what this guy did and your average employee. He obviously threw around who his employer was and also tried to become an internet sensation, he had 100k followers. We can’t really compare him to the average employee that may have a different view then their employer. Now if he was a nobody and posted this video, we wouldn’t of even known about it.

What he said was something about background checks and shootings. Nothing about hunting. At all. Sitka is in the hunting gear business, not the gun business. You are really quick to mix these two things up. Saying you support more background checks does not make you anti-hunting. Nor does appearing in a video with someone who is anti-hunting. But you know who it does make you like? Donald Trump. White House: Trump supports move to strengthen gun background checks

Yes but the guy to his right is the poster boy for anti hunting. Would you hang out with the leader of ISIS in a video and think it’s ok cause your talking about universal healthcare and agree on this one thing?

Hey, I don't disagree with you. I have a lot of those same feelings. But because I'm sick of the mob mentality, I'm not going to support it when it may align with my beliefs. I would be a hypocrite to do so.

I think the modern hunting movement as you call it is far from perfect. But it at least has a realization that the world is changing and we need to adapt to exist. There is no way around the fact that we are in the minority, and need the support of non-hunters to exist. The 2A is a different issue altogether, but 2A advocates are also in the minority and need to be aware of that. It changes your tactics and how you advocate. Having a "screw you" approach will result in losing.

ISIS and anti-hunters are not the same thing. One murders thousands of people, the other are people with a worldview I disagree with.

Are you upset when you see Republicans and Democrats together at the signing of a bill on a topic where they agree? When Republicans and Democrats just passed the Farm Bill, should I be mad that there were R's and D's together talking about an issue where they found agreement, even though they disagree deeply on other stuff? Does that make Trump or McConnell "in bed" with socialists? Or did they just find some common ground? I tend to take the latter view

Well I guess you’ll be ok with HSUS running our wildlife conservation efforts then, I’m sure they’ll separate their personal views and do the right thing.

IMO HSUS is no different then ISIS, just a terrorist org that would love to see you and I wiped off the face of the planet. Yes they have different methods for how they go about spreading their lies and message.

Comparing people who are against hunting to people who murder people over religion. Classy.

I would say jtl addresses this well in his response.

Man, apparently people are taking those extra entries for more posts very serious.

I have yet to see anyone advocate for keeping this guy around or agreeing with what he said. I think what everyone in this thread is stating that the mob mentality and if your not with us your against us is not always the answer. We see this happen every time something like this happens.

So you’re ok with all the death threats the followers of these groups put out there, even when directed towards children? Just give them a pass? Or do we sit back and wait for them to act on it before they disgust you?
