Yep because they demonize red meat and interject carbs, sugar and linoleic acid from vegetable oils. Animal based products from well sought sources are the most vitamin and nutrient dense foods on the planet. look at many indigen groups and there isnt many green veggies on their dinner plates but there is lots of animal parts.

go meat. on 3/20 I shall have elk blackstrap some bison liver and a big fat grass fed beef ribeye for my 3 boys.

then for dessert a little bacon

If vegans only knew how many living things die in a spinach or romaine field or on its way to those fields. Then there’s all the things that die in vineyards for a glass of wine to go with their salad. Bunny huggers are so disconnected from the facts on their veggies it’s nauseating. Sorry to see CO going the way of CA with the lunacy. The “pause” act article that was linked in one post would ruin livestock producers.

But also because beef has by far the highest ecological footprint.
Wouldn't that be "hoofprint"? ;)

Genesis 9:3 - "Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you". It's amazing how simple things are when people just follow the Creator's guidance instead of trying to make it all up on their own. It's no wonder so many folks always seem to be so bitter and angry all the time......they're constantly running around trying to do God's job while directly opposing anything and everything He has already laid out for us.

i wonder how it works when him and his hubby go out to eat and order up.
one says " i'll have nice juicy ribeye" and the other says "gee, i'll have glob of veggie that tastes like a ribeye," and then looks over a and " says why dont you have a glob of veggie and save a cow?"

Not surprised so many people are getting butt hurt about this and missing the point. The problem with meat isn’t affluent folks eating an occasional streak.

There are TONS of people that eat at McDonalds every day. If you can’t see the profound impact on our climate and healthcare system this creates you are a fool, or just willfully ignorant.
that was a good laugh. Still believe in the old food pyramid myth and that eating meat will make you obese? Your energy would be better spent by changing your own very negative impact on the climate instead of lecturing others.

I just read an article the other day where researchers and doctors were still baffled why cardiovascular disease is still on the rise while people's cholesterol is more under control than at any other time. They really don't have much of a clue. It's as if academia sits in a room and brainstorms for ideas out of the blue.........and then run with them as fact and gospel for decades on end........before being proven wrong over and over. My mom has had high cholesterol for decades (like 300+ high) and stopped taking meds for it after a bad reaction years ago. She still loves a good fatty ribeye, her shellfish, BBQ, and bacon and will turn 91 this year.

There's something to be said about just living your life as you wish and enjoying life as it was meant to be enjoyed.

Don't for get, tomorrow is the 20th. As a very small time beef farmer I Thank all of you who buy beef. I know its pricey in the stores, but not on the farmers end.

What is with beef prices? We never ate a lot of beef to begin with, with a freezer full of venison, but once in awhile you just can't beat it for a good steak or burger. But it's hard for me to justify at current prices. I can feed my family freaking king crab cheaper than a steak dinner just about.

Thats crazy beef I the same as King crab where you are.

Here in Oregon I can get New York or Ribeyes for around $8 per pound for Choice Grade meat. That is just 1 step down from Prime grade

King crab when available is around $30 per pound for previously frozen legs. Almost 4 times as expensive as a good steak per pound.

oh yeah because a plant based fake meat substitute doesn't come from tilled up agricultural ground that also impacts our environment. come on....it is nothing but a lib governor in a lib state trying to make a statement.
So many Americans are completely ignorant where their food comes from and believe the silly myth that vegetarian diets are good for the environment. just more dumb visual signaling that accomplishment, ishes nothing and makes Polis reinforce what an anti science idiot he and his supporters are..

For those who think the governor's proclamation has anything to do with the climate or healthier living, you are mistaken. This proclamation was entirely motivated by animal rights activism (even if the thinly-veiled reasons in the proclamation say otherwise).

MeatOut Day was started in 1985 by the Farm Animal Rights Movement, a nonprofit animal welfare organization. Polis' husband, Marlon Reis, is a staunch animal rights activist and writer.

From a political perspective, it's just more palatable (pun intended) to say it's about health and environment than about "animal welfare."
