Polis proclaims 3/20 “no meat” day in Colorado

But I'm hearing you say meat is to blame for America's obesity... any statics to back that up?

Science dictates that if calories in = calories out there is no weight gain. So the arguement that fast food or meat causes obesity, to me anyways, is right out.
Huh? Did you quote the wrong post? I wasn't saying or implying anything about meat causing obesity or anything about fast food.

My comment was about the CDC study saying 80% of Covid hospitalizations were for people who are overweight. 80% doesn't seem remarkable to me since 75% of the population is overweight to begin with.

My bad dude...will edit, though I was replying to ramsdude...

Not surprised so many people are getting butt hurt about this and missing the point. The problem with meat isn’t affluent folks eating an occasional streak.

There are TONS of people that eat at McDonalds every day. If you can’t see the profound impact on our climate and healthcare system this creates you are a fool, or just willfully ignorant.

Hahahahaha!!!!!!! Did you hear that from AOC?

My two cents about the butthurt: It isn't about this one thing. It is another straw on the camel's back about a governor that is totally oblivious to the wants and needs of about 80% of his constituents.

To summarize, it's not about the nail.

Nebraska's Governor having non of it.

oh yeah because a plant based fake meat substitute doesn't come from tilled up agricultural ground that also impacts our environment. come on....it is nothing but a lib governor in a lib state trying to make a statement.

If folks want to eat at McDonald's every day, that's their choice. This is America where we have freedom of choice. If McDonald's is somehow having a profound impact on the climate.......they've got way more control on how things work than God does. And healthcare was never meant to be a "system"..........especially a government system. I could care less what people eat or do to their bodies, but I can think of a heck of a lot more detrimental things on the body than meat. I eat meat every meal, IMO a meal isn't a meal without meat. The more the merrier. And come 3/20, there won't be any butt-hurt going on.....but there will be a heck of a lot of beef going on.......and in at my house. Not much different than most every other day.

Then it could have been “eat better, get off your ass and exercise” day.

if you think meat wasn’t the target...well, there’s that willful ignorance again...

I like meat (and particularly red meat) just as much as the next guy, and the odds are good I will still have leftover corned beef and eat it on the 20th without a 2nd thought.

But the American love affair with beef is unequivocally unsustainable, and it is fairly obvious if you examine it critically.

Couldn't he at least have said "hey go eat some meat you killed or some meat that's not from a mega fees lot"?

GD beyond burgers and sausages are the friggin stupidest thing in the world. If you're going to eat plants then eat plants.

Speaking of meat, I rarely eat beef because the good version is too pricey for me and I like to allocate my cholesterol intake to ice cream.

But my work cafeteria had smoke corned beef brisket yesterday.... Oh man it was good.

At the rate of development that's going on, I could see that to some extent. But IMO there will always be plenty of places to raise cattle to fulfill our insatiable appetites for beef. But with the advent of fake meat there should be plenty of folks turning away from the real stuff........but if they're all turning to plant based products........there's that same issue.......where are they going to grow all those plants for all that fake meat?

I try to limit my beef consumption to prime rib, ribeyes, porterhouse, and brisket. I'm a meat snob.:) And I'll go back to raising my own beef if need be to fulfill my requirements.
