On the spec sheet from Athlon, they say velocity accuracy to +-0.1%. Maybe a firmware update will fix it? It’s still a good buy for the money. Gotta check your dope at distance anyway

Just emailed Athlon with this question. I also asked them about the velocity discrepancy and if that can be corrected via firmware update. Also, their spec sheet says “firmware update via Bluetooth”Anyone ever figure out what the warranty is on this Athlon chrono?
Jan 12When did you order yours? I picked one up through EuroOptic as well at a discounted price (had to be $320) at the time of purchase.

Ha - well guess I just needed to ask - just got my shipping info from EuroOptic as well (and just recently ordered 25Apr)Jan 12
Definitely will!Keep us posted if you don't mind.
That’s up to you. For me, I didn’t have the extra money right now for a Garmin, so I ordered the Athlon. If they correct the velocity discrepancy, the Athlon would be the better deal. And, you need to verify your dope no matter what chrono you’re using, so is 10-20 fps even a problem? What’s the best rate people are getting on these now? $350 backordered through eurooptic is the best I see… with the garmin at $480 and ready to ship I don’t know that it’s worth it?
I have the Garmin, but I have to agree with you 100%.That’s up to you. For me, I didn’t have the extra money right now for a Garmin, so I ordered the Athlon. I don’t care about 10-20fps. Checked a ballistic chart and at 20fps it’s 5” elevation difference at 1000y for my 6.5PRC. That means I’m still easily on steel and able to verify and true as you would normally do.That’s up to you. For me, I didn’t have the extra money right now for a Garmin, so I ordered the Athlon. Mine's waaaay down the list, late April.Jan 12
EuroOptic is letting them go at $299 if you email them for a quote. What’s the best rate people are getting on these now? $350 backordered through eurooptic is the best I see… with the garmin at $480 and ready to ship I don’t know that it’s worth it?
I thought maybe I was screwed and way down the line but I ordered Apr 14th, only put 20% down though. No communication from them yet so guess I'll reach out.Ha

You literally just email CS and ask for a quote? Not a specific key word?EuroOptic is letting them go at $299 if you email them for a quote.
The video from S&S said ES was very consistent with Garmin, just at a higher overall numberMy primary concern is that the error is the same every time so that I can monitor changes in my loads (hand loads). If it is consistent, I don't care if it's 50fps off in one direction.
Correct. It doesn't hurt to do that with them as standard practice, they'll often discount things. They discounted a Dead Air front cap for me as well, weird things like that. You literally just email CS and ask for a quote? Not a specific key word?
Well shoot I should stop telling people that then, sorry yall.I emailed eurooptic and they said that they are no longer offering the $299 deal for the athlon. This was a couple days ago
I think they posted, maybe it was in another thread, 10 round group average was 20fps off on one group, 10fps off on another group, and 2fps off on a third group as compared to the Garmin. There's going to be a margin of error on the Garmin as well so we could be seeing inconsistent fluctuation from that. The video from S&S said ES was very consistent with Garmin, just at a higher overall number
