I grew up in a largely black area of rural West TN where many black folks are big time hunters, particularly rabbits & squirrel, but if you go into a Black owned BBQ shop or dinner, there are often whitetail mounts on the walls. Raccoon is a bit of a tradition as thanksgiving day breakfast. Almost anywhere along the TN river through TN and North Alabama, the best and most knowledgeable anglers are predominantly black. I know it sounds weird, but As a kid, I kinda of associating hunting & fishing as a “black folks” thing. It wasn’t until I got a little older that I realized that was much of an exception.
