Been watching this pretty close and have donated a few hundred dollars from Arizona to CRWM. Was up in Golden for my daughter's college visit to Mines the week of July 4th and ran across a few signature gatherers. I was shocked at the level of vitriol and flat out lies that they were spewing. If what I saw is representative of the larger electorate in CO, I'm not sure any amount of education and outreach will change minds.

Golden is Boulder adjacent (which went from classic liberal, IE you do you, to super lefty we want to control you), the rest of Colorado is not THAT bad even on the front range. Keep in mind the gathers are either rabid fans of the measure or literally paid players so I wouldn’t directly associate their lies and circus with the overall people.

Still we need to stay on top of this cause the liars will do their thing.

Thanks for your support. We need it for sure in Colorado, but the fact of the matter is that these types of initiatives are going to become even more common nationally if we lose this one here. It’s important to remember the wolf initiative passed by +/- 1% of the vote. That one caught us sleeping. That said, there has been a lot of effort put into educating the general public about big cat management in Colorado and the role hunting in general plays in game population mgmt of all kinds. And, anecdotally, I’ve talked to a fair share of people who voted for the wolf initiative who would recant if they could. The problems and issues raised by it were an unexpected outcome. So we’re talking about a couple percentage points swing to be successful; which indicates to me that the state still has a fair share of reasonable thinking voters.

There will always be people who when faced with facts still reject them because it doesn’t align with their emotions….
True….. it’s called ‘confirmation bias’

Difficult to counter, they need to be shown lots of data to back up the ‘science’

…and even then it’s like they don’t want to know…or it’s too difficult for them to change admit they may be wrong.

The big advantage you have there in Colorado is that it is still currently legal to hunt lions, so there is precident which will be a big aid in legitimising with people who have no real knowledge and can be swayed either way.
Trying to get something legalised once it is illegal will be much more difficult so be proactive now….

We know everyone's been waiting and wanting to hear an update. There has been a lot going on behind the scenes, trust us. Colorado's Wildlife Deserve Better will be putting out more communication very soon. To that end, there are already several actions you can take:

MEDIA PAGE: This page has downloadable and sharable information and more will be added. It is password protected (CWDB's call). Just message us and we can get you access.

LAWN SIGNS: If you are in Colorado, you will have the opportunity to pick these up at several locations. Points of contact and locations where to pick these up will be shared in the next week.

WATCH/SHARE: Blood Origin's Lionheart film.

BILLBOARDS/SIGNAGE/ADS: All of this will be going live. This is all targeted advertising, intentional and strategic in its placement and deployment.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Use HOWL's tool to send letters to the local newspapers around Colorado. These are an effective method.

As a California resident I feel your pain. The idiots here voted years ago to outlaw lion hunting and used every trick in the book to spread disinformation. Plus our own F&G was banned from presenting the true facts about the issue. Hope your vote goes better!

Why are the "For" arguments emotional and non-factual? "Pain and trauma" really??? Also, mountain lions can regulate themselves...until they can't and we have to kill them. Haha. Fur trade? Sorry I don't know anyone hunting mtn lions for the fur trade, if thats even legal. Bobcats maybe, but that is such a small niche thing. No mention of people eating the meat.

The For and Against totally contradict each other. Lets see if the Frangers vote using Science like they claimed to with the Wolf Introduction and "Trophic Cascading/Healthy Ecosystem" BS. Anyone that votes yes to this is a complete moron and contradicts their entire world view.

The whole CO blue book is written that way. It's disgusting.
