Is there any reason that this idea couldn’t be done with the standard encore? Or does it have to be the pro hunter version to do this build?

Thanks. Wasn’t able to find a pro hunter but was able to find the encore. One thing that is for sure, building one has gotten more expensive than the “original” cost, especially since T/C is no longer in business. Hope to have my kiddos Hobbit up and running soon. Will share some pics once done. Decided to try and do a folding stock on mine. Drawbacks to the folder is that it adds a little to the LOP, a few ounces, and more dinero. Hopeful it’s worth it in the end…

Red circle is where the billy finally landed. We found a route from the air and punched down into the canyon with ropes, harnesses and a huge assortment of hardware. Once in the bottom, deep water with vertical walls became the biggest issue.

Temps were in the 20’s which made this extremely sketch. Water from your boots flash froze on the rocks and turned them immediately slick.

This is me coming back from a very close encounter with a bear on the billy. Scared both of us to be honest. Nothing left to recover on the animal unfortunately.

That's sad... I hope it works out better next time.

What ballistics are you getting from the Hobbit? You're shooting quite a long range with it!

Thanks.

Last I checked it was leaving the 20” pipe at 2850fps with 150gr Hornady Precision Hunter factory loads.

That’s fast! Might be a really tight chamber! (Or old ammo given Hornady has downloaded almost all the catalog)
Hornady now states only 2770 fps for that load!

Thank you!

Using factory Nosler 120’s I was consistently blowing primers out the back. Nosler assumed a tight chamber as well. I’ve never had an issue with extraction though.

Finally got my Hobbit rifle put together for the kids. Thanks for the inspiration!
I swabbed the barrel, zeroed, and shot six different factory loads at the range. I was pleased with how it shot especially considering the 20-30 mph winds that day.
Of note the pivot on the Sig folding stock kept getting into my thumb when gripping the rifle. I reversed the folding mechanism and buttstock which took care of that. In hindsight I wish I had just went with a straight stock instead of the folder.
Specs are:
ProHunter Frame
MGM 6.5 creedmoor 20”
MCarbo Spring kit
Choate Forend
Sharps grip
Sig folding telescoping stock
Vx3hd 4.5-14
Talley Medium mount
TBAC Ultra 7 not pictured

After waiting and working on it bit by but, I finally finished mine/my daughters. I went with the folding chassis because I knew I would have a suppressor on the end. Ended up at 8#1oz with the suppressor. Compresses down to 28” and 39” with the folder open. Thank you to all of you for your help, insight, and to SLDMTN for giving me the idea. Now to find out if it can shoot!!

Bringing this back to life. It’s an awesome rifle setup. Getting close enough to the seasons. Get your put together now. Thanks again to the OP. Everything you need is listed.

Does anyone make a pistol grip/ar stock option for the traditionals outfitter g3 rifle? Something similar to the sharps grip?

Maybe one of these could work?

I’m unsure of the exact specs for the G3 , but could be worthwhile reaching out to either manufacturer above for help.
