I don't want to pile on, but I'm sipping my tea and figured I'd add my 2 cents:

@Zerk You understand you're doing the equivalent of saying "My truck won't start unless I turn the radio on/off three times, release the park brake, hit the horn twice, and then turn the key, in that order. Is that normal?"

And when it's explained that no, that is not normal, the response is "Aw shucks, you guys must just run fancy trucks or something - I'm gonna stick with my rig k thanks."

Bro, stop the cycle of abuse. There is gear out there that works. Use that stuff. You don't need to justify a bad purchase. Your scope doesn't track = It's broken. Get something that is not broken.

No, I've said if it hold zero I will deal with it later. I wasn't planning on dialing for 100-300 yards. But I also haven't started shooting over a 100.

Guide said put couple inches high probably shooting 200 or less.

People answered my question. I am not nuts it is taking a few shots to track.

Time wise I am not sure I want to deal with this. Maybe on a different back up gun.

Anyway, I live in one of the 15 largest cities in Alaska, and its 7,000 to 10,000 population truly is an over crowded metropolis, so I probably don't know anything about you rural folks that have to take a mail plane to leave town.

How much of the flyers were me? I didn't think they were. Sometimes you can call screw ups.

But all the sudden best shoot of my life. Making me feel good. Last 3 in hole, 6 in quarter before that. I realize many people better. I haven't shot serious in few years.

I do believe there is scope lag when dialing. I am going to loud and watch.

Am I finally getting better or something with scope set in???

Doing dry fire between every shot and 15 minutes.

Not sure I can reproduce at bench at home, I don't like it.

Of course there will be no sock when hunting.

Next will be off sticks, and positions .


Now watch next shots will wreck my buzz.

I do think better guns are easier to shoot

I want to evaluate load. Cold barrel . Next will be 2 shot groups.

Last shot was right. I thought I had it. Though I did notice I was off looking through scope afterward. But I did think good pull .

Besides scope. Any suggestions for diagnosing flyers. Grip? Grabbed trigger wrong? Cheek weld. With hand guns I have doignoised not square pulls. But they are smaller.

Rock jr, sock with bbs, portable Caldwell bench. With medium rings, height seems ok. No stock bag. Maybe get one to tell set up.

Problem is, on bench scope seems to far forward. I lean until no black. But shoulder seems good as is.

Get off the bench to start with. Also a lighter weight 300 win mag isnt the easiest thing to shoot groups with.

Sounds like you are going to burn through enough 300win ammo getting that thing sighted in that you could pay for a better scope with that same money.

But I still need practice. Another scope is not going to make be better shooter. Granted if it's not holding zero it will.

But I think I need to get better.

I think I am to point to get off bench and practice. But needed a load and set scope.

What is realistic goal for Christian arms mesa, for me, for 300 win mag?

Touching sure makes you feel good about yourself.

Last was touching outer ring. Not sure even at x15 I can see better than that

Two shot “groups” are not a thing.

Diagnosing your flyers while continuing to shoot a suspect scope is not possible.

The “my town is smaller than your town” shtick is boring and irrelevant.

I genuinely want to see you succeed. I love watching/helping people get problems sorted out, but it feels like we’re talking past each other here.

I asked a question thank you for answer. Should I send thank you letters?

When said two shot groups meant to compare possible shift in hot barrel in hunting scenario.

Today 5 in quarter, 3 1.5" off. Other day 6 in quarter, and probably similar flyer.

1 flyer today I knew it, gun moved.

I am sure you guys are right and scope us junk. But I am not sure all scope. Though many flyers I was not able to call.

But last 2 sessions a lot better.

Need to now work off bench. But it was first magnum, no load and no bullet. So never knew what issue was. Gun, load, or me.

I bought freedom scope, and when it gets back, plan on lots of practice with 243 also.

Where are you located? If you are near me and have a rail on your gun I have several scopes that have been proven, in high quality rings, I'd be glad to meet with you and help figure out the issues

Is there any other legitimate activity that requires accuracy that makes excuses for missing by calling “flyers”? I’m trying to imagine a baseball pitcher; or a golfer, or a dude in a bar throwing darts with his buddies doing this. Why is it a thing in shooting?
