If it stays at zero on bull, I may just try and work it up 2-3 inches. I bought this for my first trip out west this fall.

Decide next year. Not sure I want to risk it this year.

I did send in freedom this week. It is just for practicing
But why risk your hunt?? I was a Leupold user for a long time until I had a wandering zero on a 300 wm. Then seeing all the failures they have here. It’s not worth missing an animal on a hunt. In the back of your mind you’re going to question your scope the whole hunt. Sell that sucker and move on.

It's a thousand dollars. Not that I want to risk my hunt, but it is a lot of money to me. I'll see how it goes

You’re missing the point. Folks are recommending that you buy a less expensive scope, albeit one that works correctly. No one is stopping you from selling your VX5.

Seems strange that you’re taking a broken scope on your hunt because “it’s a thousand dollars.”

Wonders how much he's going to spend on this upcoming hunt in which his zero will be off and he ends up with tag soup.

Sunk costs suck. Spend $400 on an SWFA or $540 on a Trijicon, then sell the Leupold for about $550 (or send it back and sell the replacement). Cost of new scope will then be about $0.00.

It is human to dislike taking a loss, but many of our human tendencies need to be overridden at times. Sticking with a poor choice due to sunk costs is just making another poor choice.

I've never seen someone have so little faith in a product and continue to want to use said broken product instead of swapping it out for a profit $$$ to something that works. 🤯

Quit kidding yourself and take the advice of the many kind folk genuinely trying to help you here. They, like me, have been there, racked up over $1000 in ammo chasing their damned tail trying to make shit scopes work. I'm not trying to offend either. If it doesn't work it is shit. If it DOES work, it isn't shit. Regardless of where it falls on the price spectrum. $3000 or $300. I'd take the $300 working scope every fricken day.

Probably more like $900 for the replacement.
Leupy resale #s are high. Heck look at what they bring on this forum, even amongst all the bashing.

I didn't get chance to shoot today. I just want to shoot it some more and make sure.

Also I did have good group. If it stays that way, I am not going to worry this year

I get it you guys hate Leupold. But people are still using them

I could not sell a scope if I thought it was bad.

If it stays zeroed, I'll raise it to what ever I figure.

I don't know the joke, but lots of people use them. All but one deer was shot with one for me.

That's why you get a replacement and sell it. Buyer gets same chance at quality as buying new.
Years ago I jumped on the Vortex bandwagon and bought 6. Over the years, I've sold 6 replacements after they all failed.

You are new, so I'm going to hold off on memes (as they aren't always taken the right way).

If you take some of the advice above (including reading the threads that evaluate scopes), then I think you would be better informed - in general, and when it comes to this particular thread (and some of the posts). Hint - no one "hates" a brand, they just hate that some brands (Leupold and Vortex included) seem to fail at the basics - putting rounds in the right spot on a consistent basis.

I also get that you don't want to sell a scope if you think it's bad. You could then take the advice of @Marbles and get the replacement and sell it. (I did the same for a Tract scope that failed the drop tests.) At worst it's a timing issue from a financial standpoint, and if you use a credit card and/or are OK with being without a scope for a bit, you might not even be "out" the money while you take those steps.

Yes I have considered sending in and sell that one.

As for being new to forum, not first time a forum or shooting a rifle

Maybe it is warranted here. But I have seen so many flavors of the month come. Seen people bring up problem and told internet hysteria and then few years later hysteria if you use that product.

I'll do some more shooting and elevate myself.

On sale for $538.44 plus tax free 2 day shipping

https://www.eurooptic.com/Trijicon-...-Duplex-1-in-Matte-Black-Riflescope-2900.aspx

Give this a read.

https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/trijicon-credo-3-9x40mm-field-evaluation.318088/

If you don't like that trijicon in the link above I'll straight up trade you a leupold cds zl 4.5-14x40 or 3-10x40, your choice both are like new, and pay to have the trijicon shipped to me.

I got that 3x9 Trijicon in last week and it looks like it's going to be a really nice scope. Mine is illuminated though. Can't beat it for the price. Just waiting on my rings to get here since I don't have any extra 1"ers. Can't decide what rifle I want to mount it on though. Think I'm going to settle on my model 70 30-06 and then play musical chairs with scope swapping. You should grab one if you're thinking about it.
