Which is true of me. My hunting rifle don't get adjusted. Most of my shots are 15-50 yards.

I had just heard it's good to turn them on new scopes. I've never done it before

I like to buy Leupold cause American made.

If the vx5 holds zero I may worry about it next year. Will they fix it, or do you think this is just their product?

I was shooting locally and was off high and right. Drove it 300 miles and it is on. Well actually a half inch high and right. Which I adjusted for before this thread.

Same rock jr and sock, different bench styles.

My next thing to figure out is consistent cheek weld. Wondering if that is my problem too
Chevy Vega's were American made too!

Doing few dry fires between shot. Maybe I am just getting better. But weird how each rifle just started shooting. I was feelygood about myself, and maybe some is me.

I sure hope it is still on next time.

It's not you, it's the scope.

Save yourself the frustration.

Sell that sucker and get a NF shv, swfa, or trijicon. Lots of models of each that are cheaper than that vx5 and better.

If it stays at zero on bull, I may just try and work it up 2-3 inches. I bought this for my first trip out west this fall.

Decide next year. Not sure I want to risk it this year.

I did send in freedom this week. It is just for practicing

Go ahead and buy a Trijicon or Leica Amplus 6 to have on hand when you've had enough of the Leupy.

What's there to risk? Other than going on a hunt with a leupold scope that is currently not working properly and will more than likely cause you issues or a miss during your hunt.

Obviously that scope has problems.

Purchase a scope that's known to work and give it a try. If you don't like better than the leupold, sell it and keep your leupold.
Not risking anything by doing that other than having a new scope that works over one that currently doesn't.

I don't have to money to spend if I don't have to. My camp is 300 miles away so it will rack couple thousand test miles.

As for pintos that was a long time ago. Over 300k on my GMC.

If it turns out the scope is bad, I will have to do something .

I only got 4 of this load with me. I want to prove I can reproduce. Make sure it doesn't keep climbing.

I will then drive it home, and see if still on zero. At that point I will experiment with tracking.

If my freedom is back right away, and works I might send in.

But if it stays on zero I may not risk it before hunt.

4 shots isn't enough to prove anything.

I brought 19 in that load, I am down to 4. If they stay in same spot, I will call that it's zero.

Before I adjusted I had 6 under quarter and another close . I want to get better, be felt that was ok for adjustment

I have shot 150 or so out of this gun, 3 bullets and 3 grains loads.

I am doing 2-3 dry fires before shooting.

I am trying to get better too.

I do agree, and have learned hard way, don't adjust until you group

I also vote for selling and replacing. Even if you get it zeroed, there is evidence this particular scope won’t stay zeroed - which could happen from just riding in a vehicle.

Now that I have it zeroed and a load, if doesn't stay zeroed on 600 mile rides I will replace it

Trying to cut corners and keep a product that already does not work is a big risk to me. You can get a Trijicon for under $600 and have a much higher cance of getting a scope that works. SWFAs are probably all on backorder, so not really a short notice option.

Sell the Leupold. The more time and ammunition you spend trying to make a broken product work, the less time you will have to build confidence with one that does work.

That said, it is your money and your hunt, so do whatever makes you happy.
