Or a prefit, that's my next gun for sure is a 22CM on a tikka action.
I doubt I go the prefit route.

An 1-8” twist T3 in 22-250 sent Shaen to be rechambered to 22CM is the easy button and they are good barrels.
I have a T3X in .223, all factory. Am about to order a CGS Hyperion K for it. Will be used by my grandkids quite a bit. Probably with 77 TMK‘s. I am concerned about the length so am considering cutting it down then threading it. Thinking 17-18” someplace, could go shorter, could go longer, lack experience in this area so seeking opinions. Thank you. But, what it comes down to is that no matter how hard people try to find one, there is not a single rifle/scope/bullet on the market that does what the T3x 223/SWFA 6x/77gr TMK does. I’ve shot them all- heavily.
I don’t know much about Tikkas. Would you do the regular T3?
And I’m assuming, the 77 TMK is the best option in the Creed?

I’m sure I missed it and can’t seem to find it, but what is Shaen’s company? Is he on Rokslide? I would love to put a 6mm Creed together since Oregon has a 6mm minimum for elk. Thanks. An 1-8” twist T3 in 22-250 sent Shaen to be rechambered to 22CM is the easy button and they are good barrels.
Regular T3x is what I/we all do. 77gr TMK or 88gr ELD-M. Most are shooting the 88’s.
Shorter the better. Length for us is determined by har far you want to shoot animals, 1,800fps impact is good for TMK’s. 16” is generally good for about 425-450 yards. 18” about 450-500 yards. All depending on your atmosphere.
What does he charge to punch out the chamber? An 1-8” twist T3 in 22-250 sent Shaen to be rechambered to 22CM is the easy button and they are good barrels.
He's shooter71 on here. Send him a message. What does he charge to punch out the chamber?
Curious, what’s the 338 fed do for you at 400 on deer and goats, that the 6.5 cm won’t do?Hey Form,
Would you use this same decision making process on other calibers and desired distances for your chosen game?
I’m going to cut down & thread my Fieldcraft 6.5 CM and Kimber 338 fed. Knowing I want the Fieldcraft to be my 600 yd sheep rifle and the Kimber to be a 400 yard Deer/Goat gun, would it be reasonable to punch in numbers in the calculator to find the length that gives me 1800 at those max ranges & most common atmosphere with my preferred ammo?

Thread derail slightly, but the reason I have an ultralight 338 Fed is primarily for hunting on Kodiak Island. Not so much for the primary species, but for close quarter Brown Bear terrain. 200 grain Mono’s make me feel more comfortable than 127 LRX’s.
Why handicap your rifles with monos on Kodiak?
They aren't blah in the accuracy/reliability departments. In fact, I've found them to be quite exceptional in those regards. If Tikka would quit fing around and chamber 6 creed in a twist that shoots the 108 factory ammo im down.
But I just can't commit myself to buying a 243 and having a barrel swap done on such a blah rifle.
BRT:Don't they want about as much for an action as a new rifle?
Penetration. Secondary to that, I don’t want micro bits of lead in my meat. I’ve never had a poor experience from 40-520 yards on any medium size (sheep, goats, deer, caribou) game with either Barnes 127 or Federal Trophy Copper 200. Mostly 1 shot kills with the 6.5 CM besides for a couple that took 2 rounds.

How have those 200 Trophy Copper performed? I’ve used the 160 TTSX on a dozen or so animals and the 185 TTSX on a couple, but never the heavier monos.
