I made the switch last year. Moved to FORLOH, darn tough and check tags before I buy anything. Still trying to find Merino wool not made there
Duckworth’s merino comes from the USA.

It's more than "as a hunter" - it's as a consumer that we have choice, everything we buy is a choice. I don't buy things made in China anymore, I mean I'm sure the supply chain works in there on some of my purchases, but if it says made in China it goes back on the shelf.

I've seen lots of clothing items I would have bought, whatever though, guess I don't really need another shirt... just as well.

I think a large issue is also that particularly in clothing, "Made in the USA" is used as a substitute for subpar textiles and designs. I'm not going to pay significantly more for a drastically inferior product.

Show me a better product, or an equal product, and I'm a buyer.

Big deal for me. I F’n hate communism. Many nowadays virtue signal about purchasing from some “green” or “carbon neutral” vendor. Ok, fine and dandy but if you’re buying goods from a commie you’re hurting someone and sure as hell ain’t green, period. China is a commie country and if you buy China goods you’re supporting communism. Full stop. Now, I understand that there are necessary goods that only come from the commies nowadays, and we have to do what’s necessary for us to “keep the lights on.” However, it’s pretty clear to me we’d all be better off by minimizing democratic money put in commie coffers. Better dead than red (or pink). End of rant.

I guess a start is a start but man, how much do you spend a year on hunting clothes? Sure "every bit counts" but you harm china more if you looked at your whole life and cut out as much as you can! Even purchasing from other Asian countries is much better because most are at odds with China.

But don't worry, the US is in the process of decoupling from China for lots of things and eventually more of this manufacturing will move anyway. To countries that don't rip off every technology brought to them!

In the mean time if it's already back here, china has been paid, so if you want to make a point to sitka or whoever writing that letter is probably as or more effective than not buying.

I think the point is to look at your whole life but this is a hunting forum so the hunting aspect of it all is what was presented.

This isn't all about only buying USA, there are other places around that world that produce products that aren't directly at odds with us.

Here's what I don't understand. I guy wearing all Chinese made Sitka gear trashing a brand like Origin because Jocko Willink and Cam Haines are not "real hunters". They are real Americans that have clothing entirely sourced and made in America. I realize they have a limited amount of products right now but that mentality makes no sense.

Vote at the ballot box and vote with your wallet when buying stuff. Not just hunting stuff but all your stuff. Sometimes you have no other reasonable choice but to purchase a product made in China, but when you do you should consider it first IMO.

I have no problem with communism in China if that is what the Chinese people want and accept, but I don't want it in the US. Nor do I want any other authoritarian regime. I prefer a free capitalist society where talent and hard work is rewarded so people have an incentive to be the best they can be. The problem with buying from China is that your money is funding their goal of being the dominant world power to the detriment of the US.

I’m a pretty patriotic guy and hate communism as much as the next guy. But I think the “only USA”guys need to reevaluate how committed they are when they are using electronics to type those messages, on the internet, that likely uses Chinese made routers and modems or cell towers with Chinese made tech.

Not one person here believes they can dodge China made stuff altogether, and it is disingenuous of you to suggest that is what the topic is about. For at least a decade I have dodged China made stuff when there is a reasonable alternative. The OP was about dodging China made hunting clothes. That's easy to do because there are a lot of alternatives. If you'll tell me what my reasonable option for dodging Chinese tech in a cell tower, I'm all ears.

Ditch the cell phone and get a landline in your house. Yes you can still do that. You don’t NEED a cell phone. Then find a home phone not made in China. Most don’t actually want to make the necessary sacrifices though.

It is not possible to use any phone system in which there are no Chinese parts used. It's very predictable that in these conversations someone will go to asinine extremes.

The thread is about eschewing China made products when there are reasonable alternatives.

Yes, it sure is. My parents have a home phone made in India. They don’t have cell phones. So there you have it a “reasonable alternative” but you don’t want to give up your cell phone you don’t need.

Wow, who would have thought you would have doubled down on the asininery? Is a landline REALLY a REASONABLE alternative to a cell phone? You'll give an asinine response, but the overwhelming majority of people know that it's not. Are you 100% sure that the land line system is 100% free of China Made products? You might need to revisit the post that elicited my post that you quoted before you delve into intellectual dishonesty in response to that question.

I’m 47, YES a landline is a reasonable alternative to a cell Fartwell. I was 22 before my first cell phone and even now a cell is not a necessity for me i don’t NEED one.

With a landline people call you, you pick up, you talk like a normal human. If you’re not home they leave a message and you call them back. My parents do just fine without cell phones, always have. Millions of American don’t have cell phones Fartwell.

If i’m wrong Fartwell lay out your argument on why you NEED your cell phone to live? I’m all ears.

There are some legit USA clothing options, but not a lot- sadly.

If you can find it, Patagonia, Arcteryx and Outdoor Research have USA made clothing for the military- it's hard to find and spendy, but it's top notch stuff.

Sitka also has a military line- Arrowhead (they have a website), some of it is made in the USA, some made in allied countries (TAA compliant vs Berry compliant)

There are smaller military contractors also making USA made clothing- takes some digging, but most of it is good.
