I’ve been thinking about this for some time and how to write up a good argument for the mods here to consider. It’s just disrespectful and nothing good comes of it because most people starting a thread asking Unit specifics are gone forever after they get info. Then that thread lives on forever for anyone to see. If these posts were to be censored (doesn’t need to be a banable offense) it’s not going to have any affect on the forums memberships or traffic IMO. It’s a win win!

Maybe more can be done, I’ll add this to my list of things to watch for.

I think we are going to have to disagree on who's responsibility this is.

I can see both sides of this argument and disagree this is the answer. If people don't reply or pm the thread dies a natural death, if people want to talk about it, well then it'll keep circulating.

Maybe we should ban those who go out of there way to degrade and troll on those unit threads instead.

Might be time to bump my unit thread and see who's honey hole I can end up in come September.

I’ll have to agree with you. I was just looking at a recently replied to thread that started of fine and didn’t reveal much except a unit number that was attracting several newbies from a google search. I definitely don’t want to delete it as there’s some great pictures in there. I did remove the unit number to see if it quits getting so many newbie “I drew this tag, what can you tell me” responses. I replied to one new member welcomed him and asked him to make an introduction post in the fng section, hopefully that inspires some more participation from people.

Anyway it was too much work so I’ll stand with my previous comment of not feeding into those threads.

It’s not the first time there has been a thread asking for some kind of filter or moderation on unit threads. That’s why I’m trying to be open minded to help with that. If you read my last comment it outlines what it would involve and to @realunlucky point letting a thread die naturally is probably best, unless it’s way over the top.

Yeah, over the years on various forums and other online venues or publications, I've steered dozens of people to locations and/or outfitters and guides and transporters, and virtually none have followed through. My personal belief is that most online posters asking for information aren't truly serious to begin with.
