Ballot Initiative to neutralize CPW and eliminate hunting/fishing in Colorado

This is much worse than Prop 127. Blatant attempt to create an organization that will circumvent CPW commission authority in an effort to eliminate hunting and fishing in the name of “rewilding”. This could be the end of hunting and fishing in Colorado if this is allowed to pass. The powerful anti-hunting activists in Colorado are no longer nibbling around the edges. They want the whole thing. They want a separate governing body that renders the current commission powerless.

It appears to be a ballot initiative that would go to voters in 2026. Based on the draft document they will receive initial funding from the state general fund and then operate off of fees and/or fines paid to the state for violating “corridors” and/or “keystone” species.

Wow…definitely not beating around the bush anymore. The proposed commission would take over wildlife management in the event that CPW were to be defunded or dissolved “to ensure uninterrupted conservation efforts”. Sounds like phase 1 of their plan is to set up a weak and basically purposeless commission, and then phase 2 is defunding CPW to usurp the throne.

We already have an absolute joke of a commission, all but maybe 1-2 even hunt or fish or have ever done it in their entire lives… many political animal rights activists actively sit on our game commission right now… the whole things stinks. Plus we are 1.2 billion in debt as a state and they want to create an absolutely worthless and redundant bureaucratic office that will only cost the tax payer more money, very on par for Colorado democrats…

The commission's title sounds good, goals sound good, etc. ... until you read into "assuming the powers of CPW "- JUST IN CASE they are defended or rendered nonfunctional due to legislative action.

Wow, this is scary... never know what dumb sh#! will end up on a ballot initiative anymore. Between this in CO and Utah's massive price increases to nonresident hunters, you have to wonder if their goals are really to eliminate hunting. Sucks. What the heck was wrong with the old system of res and non-res hunters pumping millions of dollars into local economies each year?! How the heck are they going to make up the money we provide?! A mountain bike stamp? Hiking permit?! That ain't gonna do it...
