Ballot Initiative to neutralize CPW and eliminate hunting/fishing in Colorado

I have been very critical of nonresidents not stepping up to help other states but Dan said 82% of donations against prop 127 were from nonresidents. I will eat my crow. Let’s do that again.

Good lord. Colorado residents should be embarrassed.
The only time residents of Western states like NR’s is when they need money or support.

Support Colorado or don’t, doesn’t really matter to me. But if this stuff wins there, you will be fighting it in your own state. Wait until we are all fighting this in our own states at the same time and the only support we can get is from residents.

Colorado is the most generous western state for nonresidents. Lose that and see how much the bitching increases and how much opportunities nonresidents lose.

Not as an “oh look at me” but I have sat in the Denver airport on a layover once. Never been to Colorado, don’t even apply there and I can still find it in me to donate. Regardless of what opportunity they do or don’t provide, I am a hunter and try to support hunting.

It’s really up to you man, but remember all it would take is 1 dollar from every hunter in the US. If you can’t find it in your to give that, then I don’t know what to tell you.

Edit to add. This thread is to help unite hunters for one cause. If you want a thread about nonresident vs resident, feel free to start one or bump one of the 25 that have been hashed out in the past.

Meh, not too embarrassed, Co provides the lions share of elk tags to Americans by a giant margin. I hate that we are even having this discussion because of the insane-o’s who decided to make this a fight, but I think that Co provides a giant portion of opportunity to NR, so lots of NR fellas want to fight this to keep their ability to hunt elk on a regular basis.

GoHunt had Dan on their podcast and talked about this.

Starting my monthly to CRWM again. I would urge others to do the same. Remember if every hunter in the US gave 1 dollar we could smash these groups into oblivion. So don’t think a 5 dollar month donation is worthless.

Also, remember the companies that put their money where their month was last time. Love them or hate them GoHunt really stepped up. Support them and let them know why.
This x 1,000. I am going to start donating to CRWM again. If this ballot initiative passes and they establish the WECC it will end CPW and hunting, fishing, and agriculture in Colorado as we know it. Props to GoHunt for sticking up for hunters. Trail and Brady both flew out to Denver for the Defeat Prop 127 rally at the capitol to show their support.

Completely understand your frustration with diminishing non resident opportunities in many western states. Love the Bernie meme. It frustrates me too when I apply as a non-resident in other states. 90/10 sucks. But Colorado provides more non-resident big game hunting opportunity than any other state in the west. If the anti-hunting activists get what they want and start chipping away at hunting, where do you think all those hunters are gonna go? It will increase pressure everywhere else further decreasing opportunities for non-residents in other states, likely where you live and/or hunt. Donating money to political causes is a very personal decision. If folks want to know how to help, please donate to CRWM. If they can’t and/or choose not to, that is fine too.

They have made some changes to the original ballot proposal, adding more language but the intent remains the same. The real objective of this ballot initiative has nothing to do with conservation. The point is to completely circumvent CPW and the CPW commission. They want to replace CPW with a commission filled with anti-hunting activists from non-profits and academic institutions. Completely exclude hunters, anglers, production agriculture, and outdoor recreation community from wildlife management. It is a hostile takeover of wildlife management so they can kill hunting and agriculture. They lost at the ballot box, the commission, and the legislature. So they want to create a new commission to override the others, unaccountable to the public. Dan Gates has been talking about on podcasts. This is the next big fight and it’s for all the marbles.
