The problem with heavy bullets in the Creed at least for hunting is the low velocity they produce.

When you are only starting in the low to mid 2700fps range, they run out of steam and ability to expand reliably at distance.

For target shooting which is what the Creed was designed for expansion/fragmentation doesn’t matter.

All the ballistic test results I see tell me that out to 600 yds the 140gr Accubond starting out at around 2700fps ends up with just over 1000 ft lbs of energy at 600 yds. Nosler recommends 1800fps on target for reliable expansion and again that same Accubond fits that requirement. I've been rewarded with phenomenal on game performance over and over again. If it ain't broke I'm not fixing it.

El Pollo posted it above.

If I didn't reload I would stock up on Hornady Precision Hunter 143gr ELDx trying to get all the same lot number. A friend shoots em out of his Tikka 6.5CM and it shoots cloverleafs all day long and drops deer sized game in its tracks.

I know this thread is pretty old, but.....
I've shot the swede for a long time. My new creedmoor will be getting hand loads with 155, 156, and 160 grain cup and core round nose and semi spritzers. All around 2500 fps. I'll use the most accurate load I get for hunting. I don't get shots past 200yds where I hunt. I usually take high shoulder shots. Same bullets at the same speed have been OUTSTANDING in the swedes I've killed deer with. Big mushrooms, and have never recovered one, all pass through. Most deer drop on the spot, furthest one ran was a 200+ lb. Buck that went @50 yds, and that was because I double lunged him. This is what made the relatively small swede an effective big game killer - high sectional density. As has been stated in previous posts, there's more than one way to skin a cat, but for the life of me I can't figure why anyone would want fragments of copper and lead strewn about a good quarter to a third of an animal you intend to eat! THAT IS what match bullets tend to do on game, and more power to ya if that's your thing, but the way I do it lets me save a lot of meat. Btw, those sst's CAN be like varmint bullets, obviously speed impacts this, but I suspect caliber can change the outcome as well. I sent one out of a swede at 2700fps, not to fast, and lost the entire office side shoulder, ribs, and part of the back strap. Jelly. I'll stick with my old fashioned heavies!

I use the 143 ELDX in my Creed. I'm typically a head & neck shooter, however the times that I've had to take a shoulder shot I shoot high & anchor them right there. I did hit one a lil low & deer ran 50 or so.....no exit & not much of a blood trail, but extensive internal damage. I'm wanting to try some nosler partitions to see what kind of performance I get with those.

I got some old school 140gr partitions, if you have some intrest in them maybe we can make a trade or something.

Pass thru or not, the bullet killed the animal and you were able to harvest. I'd say goal accomplished.
