What did you do in the reloading room today?

I made a lot of empty brass over the weekend. My parents keep mentioning how many prairie dogs are showing up on the ranch in places they don't want them (alfalfa fields, large grazing areas where they keep cattle, etc). I'm all for the challenge - basically went into extermination mode and brought my 22-250 AI and AR-15. I blew through nearly 100 rounds of 22-250 AI in no time, then moved on to the AR-15 for the remainder haha.

- Deprimed all the 22-250 AI, 223/556, and 6.5 Creed brass from the weekend.
- Annealed a bunch of brass
- Loaded up different charges of RL-26 with 140 Hybrids and 143 Bondstrikes for my 6.5 Creed.

Will probably just be focusing on my 6.5 Creed for the time being. I have about 6 weeks until I leave on a Dall sheep hunt and the Sig Cross will get to come along for the ride.

I rigged my 223 tikka for an upcoming PRS event.
Worked up a quick load to fit into tactical division rules. Wanted to load with thrown charges on the Dillon.

18” 223. KRG bravo. DD enticer. 4-16 atacr.
75gr ELDM
23.0gr 8208XBR
Fed GMM SRP.
Starline brass.
2.485” (max length in the MDT 12 round mags I had)

2770fps.
ES 12fps over 25 shots.
That will do nicely.
Stopped by Scheels on my way home, and picked up 8 more lbs of powder. IMG_1239.jpeg

Loaded 50 rounds of 6.5 CM last night.

142gr ABLR
10x 43.0gr StaBall 6.5
10x 43.5gr StaBall 6.5

140gr Hybrid
30x 43.5gr SB65.5

I'm staying with a buddy and was using his FX120i scale....that experience probably just cost me an FX123 or possibly the ATv4 combo. 😂 Way faster than my TRX-925.

Mass producing 88 tmk loads for the 223 ai.

Today, I recruited some help with loading ammo. My son wants to go shoot tomorrow, so I told him “you gotta go load some”. I showed him how to prime, charge, and seat bullets. He enjoyed it but I told him to just wait until I show him how to process brass.

I fully intend to set him up with a few hundred 223 cases to turn into prairie dog ammo for the fall.

Got the needed parts to get the RL550 up and running and cranked out some 223 practice loads.
24.5 gr CFE223 and the rest of my factory 2nd 77 SMKs in range pickup PMC brass. Shoots great in my SPR, and well enough in my bolt gun.

The Dillon is a life changer!!

You took your 223ai as your main rifle to S2H right?
Did it give you any issues since you were basically fireforming for the whole course?

Yep. Used aac 77 otm 5.56. Zero issues. Shot decent. Had several dud rounds. Definitely lost some brass during the field shooting. But probably saved about half of a little more of my brass.
Had a head cold this weekend so I locked myself in the gun room and just started reloading lol.

Not sure if there's really any huge difference in brass quality. Like this stuff vs say Lapua or Starline etc. This load is really dang good, about an inch or a tad over for 10.
Better brass might last longer but 223-5.56 brass is relatively cheap.

Man I can't wait for my boy to be a little older so I can leave him alone.
I had him debur and chamfer some 6 UM brass with my power rcbs unit. Like there's no way he can f this up. Well he thought he had to put his entire body weight onto the case! He wrecked about six or seven pieces before I caught him. He was complaining how hard it was. Like what are you doing ?!

Tried to cut him loose with the Hornady 3-1 trimmer and some 223. He didn't make sure a few pieces were lined up and wrecked a few case necks
Going to keep encouraging him to do better. I need to recruit his older sisters.

Eventually with seven kids I shouldn't even have to load at all
