YouTube restricts gun videos

No videos that intend to sell a firearm or certain accessories that turn a firearm into an automatic weapon are allowed. No videos that provide instructions on making or installing a gun, ammunition, high-capacity magazine, homemade silencer or other certain accessories will be allowed. Neither will videos showing how to convert a firearm into an automatic weapon.

Does this mean a video about building a long range gun will be banned? How about videos like from the mountain project where they are going to be giving a gun away? It even states making or installing ammunition.... does that mean if you chamber a round on video you will get banned??? And on top of that now anti hunters can just report any video with hunting and hope that some get banned thus lowering the number of chances for hunters to represent themselves....

Sounds like the perfect opportunity for competition to you tube to be started. When are pro 2A people going to stand behind companies that support the 2A.

Ya but also the lack of knowledge out there makes me believe many videos will be deleted due to just ignorance. I can see many videos of guns with a muzzle break being removed because people will think it's a silencer....

The sheer loss of information alone will be astounding. It'd be like setting a whole section of books on fire at the only library in the world simply because you don't agree with the subject.

I'm starting to really hate this world and the direction it's going.

Just more Facebook fake news.

I would hope that's true but the ad I linked is posted to utahs local news page which is where I saw it. Hopefully the local news investigates a little further than most FB people.... Cant promise anything though ha

Its real. Look what happened to Spikes Tactical. You Tube and Google has been at full force banning conservative and Christian views for the last month or so. They are a monopoly and will most likely crush any of the competition unless action is taken to prevent it.

Just more Facebook fake news.

It is absolutely NOT fake news. There was a very interesting live show from the guys that do The Gun Collective and Adam Kraut, a firearm attorney that’s running for the NRA Board of Directors. YouTube has already shut down Spikes Tactical’s channel and removed their videos and I believe they’ve purged a number of others. I contacted a couple of producers of reloading videos and while they haven’t been shut down yet, the wording of the new policy DOES put them at risk.

There are other places/ways to post videos but they will be spread out and diluted and not nearly as easy to find as simply going to the search bar on YouTube. It could have a very chilling effect. Vimeo has shown itself to be fairly anti-gun for quite a long time and it’s unlikely they wouldn’t follow suit with YouTube. Full30 is not a good option as they do not have the capacity to handle the traffic on their backend and they simply do not have the financing to handle the kind of load that could, potentially, be needed. Currently, PornHub is the only platform capable of handling all the gun content should there be a mass migration. Apparently, according to some numbers I heard yesterday (I can’t verify the veracity of those claims, though) PornHub does something like 2x the amount of traffic DAILY than YouTube. The problem being the name and their primary content. Many advertisers that channels depend on and product that are used, recommended and reviewed will NOT (understandably) want their names associated with ANYTHING “porn.” So, there was some chatter about looking at a spin-off from PornHub that uses their resources but is separate from PornHub. This sounds reasonable to me because I’d have a very hard time visiting “porn hub” even for gun related content and I DEFINITELY wouldn’t be allowing my kids to go there or recommending it to clients.

HOW bad will this be? That remains to be seen. Maybe after this weekend’s rally in DC YouTube will quietly loosen the reigns a little and we won’t lose much; but that seems like a long shot and isn’t much consolation to me, even if it were to occur. I’m usually the calm voice of reason on things like this (at least in my crowd of friends) but this one scares me to death. Fake news it is NOT.

What I don’t get is how there isn’t a single conservative 2A defender out there that’s a counterbalance to Michael Bloomberg. There’s not a single conservative or 2A champion that competes with Google or Yahoo or even who’s a significant player in the world of tech. Why is that? Where are the Koch brothers? Where are the other tier 1 income conservatives with foundations for all sorts of things that, frankly, don’t have the potential influence on this country that the 2A does?

We live in scary times.

I do not agree with youtubes stance on this BUT it is their company and their RIGHT to do whatever they want with their content.
We can vote by not using their site or going to a competitor...if their market share drops or shareholder value is hurt enough then the stockholders will put enough pressure on them to change their stance...will that happen? I don't know.
They have been de-monetizing videos that are hurtful, hateful, contain certain words or phrases etc for a while...

By de-monetizing they are not censoring videos...but they are forcing individuals that count on revenue from self produced content to self censor...and that is the scary part. They are not infringing on our first amendment but forcing people to do their bidding through the pocketbook.

Good for youtube sticking to their far left leaning principles and trying their best to suppress ideas and knowledge sharing. I hope this backfires on them and opens up a door for vimeo to take market share...or another competitor.

This is the tip of the iceberg I think this is the slow decline of gun rights.

Also we'll probably be at war with NK or Iran within the year now that War Mongerer John Bolton is National Security Advisor.

Trumpo's cabinet keeps resigning or getting fired..

You are missing the point that You Tube is a media based monopoly. What they are doing is no different then if AT&T was allowed to operate as a monopoly and blocked calls from individuals discussing firearms.

I do not agree with youtubes stance on this BUT it is their company and their RIGHT to do whatever they want with their content.
