Gladly! Mine is a 1970 Marlin 336 100th Anniversary model (note the seal on the stock) chambered in 30-30. It was all original when I got it but wasn't in the best of shape. I gave it new life.
  1. Sig Sauer Romeo5 red dot
  2. Picatinny scope rail
  3. Midwest Industries handguard
  4. Magpul foregrip
  5. Ranger Point Precision gold lightweight trigger kit (~1.5#)
  6. Ranger Point Precision gold loading gate spring (~1#)
  7. Ranger Point Precision big loop lever
  8. Ranger Point Precision self cleaning aluminum magazine follower
  9. Painted the stock flat black to match
I love it.

Grew up in New York. Whitetail deer season hunting was slug gun only in parts of the state. My 12 gauge was the tool of choice then.

.308 for me. Partitions are my favorite.
That said, I’d happily switch to a 7mm-08 if I could actually find ammo for it. Hell It looks like Nosler & Federal don’t even load Partitions for it any more. Both have taken 7mm-08 Partitions off their websites.
Damn shame if true.

I believe if you are going to shoot a 7-08 you really need to reload to get the combination of bullet and powder that is most effective in your firearm. That can probably be said of any cartridge, however.

Have had great luck with .270 shooting 130 grain Winchester Silvertips. I do not think I have ever had to go looking for a Whitetail.

Mine depends on the year. Last year it was a 3( Remington. This year it’s a 30-06. Some years it’s a 257 Roberts, or a 6mm Remington, or a 308 Winchester, or a 30-30. We’ll you get the idea.

I’m a fan of the 7mm-08 and my rifle really likes the Winchester 140 grain ballistic silver tips. The deer not so much.
