While bear hunting the Delaware Water Gap two years ago I was coming down the mountain and found this old abandoned Barn with two 1950/60’s cars and an old manure spreader. It was crazy since there was no road to be found. Apparently everything had sucked up with regrowth. Super spooky I was expecting Jason to come out of the dark and get me.

I love threads like this because they encourage rooting around in your memories for cool stuff. they are positive and remind us that we as outdoorsman have a lot in common and a genuine fellowship.

1990 ish a pair of WWII half track armored vehicles at an old mine site in NV Ruby Mtns.

2014 A Cold Steel Master Hunter - I cleaned it up and bought a sheath for it and it goes with me every time now. Two years later we were camped near a group of hunters at the same spot where I found the knife. We went over to have a drink with these guys. One of the guys we had met there before. When I got my knife out to cut some cheese he started asking about it and it turns out he had lost it in deep snow right in camp a couple years before I found it. I asked if he wanted it back and he asked me “Do you love it?” I said “I kinda do” and he said “You keep it then, I have others”. Even though the blade is pitted and the handle is mouse chewed it is one of my prized possessions. What a generous gift.

2020 A pair of large arrow heads about 2” long (maybe spearheads?) found within 90 seconds of each other. I gave one to my son who was with me at the time. The one in the pic I carry in my pocket for good luck.

I’ll spend a lot of time today thinking about this.

In high school found an old abandoned mining camp with a trunk. Open it and it was full of old 50-80's Playboys, sadly no holy grail 1953 Marilyn Monroe. Took it to an antique dealer and got $50 beer money for the collection, which I consider at the time a powerball win.

My wife spotted this Case rusty old 3 blade knife on the ground while we were hunting elk in the breaks of Montana. Daughter ended up harvesting a nice bull. I carefully cleaned it up, leaving the patina and now carry it for good luck mojo.

Fishing in Canada...found an old trappers cabin..still had two rifles (no bolts in them and rusted enough couldn't tell exactly what they were.)....had a bunch of little things around....then my dad looked under a log that had fallen from the roof and found and old beaver skin mitten/gauntlet with native beadwork on it. We looked for another hour or so all around the cabin and on the little island it was on and never found the other one.
