One of the cooler threads. Keep it up...I’m trying to think of stuff worthy of posting...

Was working near Pocatello Idaho a few years back and found this at the end of a road near an abandoned mine:

Looked under the tarp and found a whole bunch of stuff, concrete tools, chainsaws, etc. Reported it to the local FS office and then we contacted the Sheriff's office. Took two deputies back the next day to the site and found the guy that stole all the stuff there, at the site. Deputies placed him under arrest and we helped them haul all the stuff off the mountain, a truckload of stolen property:

Back in the early 1990’s a buddy and I were elk hunting in Arizona when we stumbled upon an old log cabin that had deteriorated down to the last couple of logs around the base. As we poked around looking things over my buddy finds a cube shaped tin about the size of your fist, with a press on lid, painted green with lots of scrolls and swirls painted over the green. When he shook it it rattled so he held it up by his ear and shook it some more trying to figure out what was in it. The lid was on tight but we managed to get it off only to be surprised to see a can full of blasting caps. We gently placed the can down and backed out of there!

When I was still in high school found a plastic box of 8mm Mauser ammo minus 2 rounds of crusty bullets, plastic was too brittle to save so just buried it. Couple years ago found a lost hunter, he had no idea where he was or which way his camp was. He was 25 miles from it going the wrong way, got him out and back to where he belonged before the search party headed out.

I am so glad someone started this thread, I found a knife about 20 years ago in Tennessee couple miles from nothing. It belong to a USMC service member and has i guess what is his service number on it. I have been told based on the number the guy served in Vietnam or earlier. I will post the number when I get home tonight. Maybe someone can help me get it to its rightful owner or if he has passed his family. My boys have fought over this knife for years but never let either of them use it didnt seem right.

Also found a wallet once returned it to its owner.

Attached are the numbers. 2006831. Someone help me find this guy.
