A daypack with a hoody, camera, Old Timer fixed blade knife, Kershaw knife set with a 2 knife blades and a saw blade, also a larger folding saw. There was other stuff like a water bottle, broadheads and food the mice had eaten. It was about 2 years lost and the mice had been living in it and chewed up the pack and hoody. The camera was toast from water as was the film in it....hoped to identify the owner but no luck. I found the pack 10 miles back from the road in central Colorado.

I am so glad someone started this thread, I found a knife about 20 years ago in Tennessee couple miles from nothing. It belong to a USMC service member and has i guess what is his service number on it. I have been told based on the number the guy served in Vietnam or earlier. I will post the number when I get home tonight. Maybe someone can help me get it to its rightful owner or if he has passed his family. My boys have fought over this knife for years but never let either of them use it didnt seem right.

Also found a wallet once returned it to its owner.

In the prairies I've found parts of wagons and harnesses and the bottom of an old oil lamp.

Found two arrowheads, one's pretty big and will try to post a pic.

Coolest is a blown down/collapsed very small log cabin, footprint maybe 8' by 10' max. Maybe 1.5 miles off the road but a ways up a mountainside. By "log", the biggest piece was about 5" in diameter. The ridge pole was maybe 6". Each log had been cut by an axe, clearly seen from the ends of each log. I was wondering how amazingly old this cabin must have been, in my mind clearly a mountain man had built it, was digging around half expecting to find traps, an axe head and an old flint lock - but then saw it had been lined by black plastic sheet. What a let down. Found a few wads of black plastic sheet under a few rocks nearby. What a let down, but still pretty cool.

Not really "cool" but found a low end range finder, shooting sticks, small pelvis saw and a couple of knives.

Old home/farm site not too far from my place. No roads or trails in our out anymore. Was pretty fun to break brush into a small meadow and stumble across it.

i have found rabbit traps on a few separate occasions. one was near a rabbit warren. another time i found 2 traps sitting on a boulder while scrambling up a steep gully while hunting feral goats. there was no reason for them to be there for the purpose of trapping rabbits. must have been some old trapper crossing the hillside that laid his traps on the boulder to free his hands to climb up but they were forgotten or left there.

i once found a victorinox army knife beside a fish frame while fishing. someone had caught a fish and took the fillets but not the knife.

and i swear, the moment you think your in the middle of nowhere and could be the first person to leave a footprint in that spot, you'll find a piece of rubbish.

Last fall I was archery hunting mule deer above timberline. I got busted on a stalk up high and the herd headed over the ridge and out of the unit. I also enjoy hiking 13ers and 14ers here in CO, and there was one pretty close so I decided to check it off the list since I was within 500' of the summit and there weren't any other deer around at the moment. I found this right near the top (approx 13,100 ft summit elevation). Some kind of fossilized sea sponge? I have no idea what it is exactly, or how it got there but it was certainly interesting to find it up that high.

And of course, about 100' below the summit there was also a decent buck bedded in a cliffy area that I had no idea was there until he stood up and looked at me...

Was working way the hell out on the Arizona Strip several years back, drove out maybe 70-80 miles in the morning. Came back that evening and found this in the middle of the road.

Don't know what happened, but landing gear was not down, prop was bent up a bit...
