I hope all you internet experts are right. But unfortunately I don’t think you are. Most people that aren’t worried about it are under 65 years old and don’t have health issues. Selfishness at its finest...it’s the American way. Oh yeah, 370 people died in Italy today and they’re hospitals are full and are turning away people to basically go die. I guess they should get on rokslide to hear from the experts though.

I just got this from a buddy that posts on here. I’ll leave him unnamed. It’s worth the read.

I believe this 100%. I just don’t know how to act on it. I can not get this with my asthma. I’ve allready had pneumonia and almost died from that. Unless our government shuts down everything we are screwed (I know I am). My greedy corporate job I have will not shutdown and will expect us to continue to show up to work. I’ve allready managed to work from home since last week but I got to go back tomorrow. So unless we shut everything down, people will have to go to work and it will still spread or lose your job (which most including myself can’t afford to do). Wish I was a ceo of some internet company right about now

Tony, you’re right. Colorado just shut down all restaurants, bars, theaters, etc for the next 30 days. It’s a step in the right direction. Stay safe, and do what you can! I hope everyone who isn’t worried about getting it because they’re “healthy” still take precautions to protect people in your situation. I know I will!

Ya, after seeing that on the 5pm news last night, we immediately jumped into the car and headed to Texas Roadhouse for our "last supper" out for the next 30 days. It wasn't crowded when we got there, but by the time we left it was packed with people waiting. And I have asthma, and this upper respiratory thing for the past month. I'm also heading down to see my 89 year old mom today. Life goes on.........until it doesn't.

Based on current events can you imagine what things would get like and how fast that would happen if something really bad happened across the nation or world.........

Seems like you were mocking it at first.

I think this classifies as really bad and it didn't take long. I've never seen grocery store shelves cleaned out in my lifetime.

Its not the death rate........its the infection rate.

This in turn is killing the economies around the world putting many out of work, dominos are falling and this virus just might get Biden elected.

NC has closed all schools for 2 weeks and just issued an executive order that all dining areas in restaruants are closed, that you can only do take out/pick up only. Movie theaters are shut down, many local businesses are closing. This is going to bankrupt many small businesses.

As someone from SC, it honestly just feels like a hurricane. I guess we will see what it looks like in a month.

If you want to talk about selfishness how about we talk about how we are going into a panic and shutting down the economy to protect the 16% of our population that is over the age of 65. Damn the other 84% still trying to make a living; I guess they're the selfish ones.

I would think that most people over the age of 65 are in their retirement years and can stay home a lot more easily than a 30-40 year old who is still working.

That's maybe the dumbest thing I've ever read. There's a big difference between short term financial hardship and death. One you can recover from. I'm glad you would be ok with my kids growing up missing their grandparents so you aren't inconvenienced for a month or two, though.

Man there are some dolts on here. If you’re 30 years old and freaking out about your 401k you probably don’t have a 401k.

The younger generation has renamed the Coronavirus to: #boomer remover

Think about that

I generally don't like anyone being crappy to anyone else, and that sentiment certainly applies here. However, it should be noted that there's a really strong intuition within younger generations that we're operating in a political, economic, and social system that transfers wealth disproportionally towards the baby boomers. And not just a little bit. There's plenty of evidence to back up this intuition. It's not talked about a lot, in fact, most people don't even consider it. And I voice it here with caution so that it's not misinterpreted. I don't blame any group of people for generally doing what it takes to secure the bag for themselves. It's just that the effort to do so has weighted things almost entirely against younger generations now. The gap isn't so big that its cause for revolution. But it is almost certainly why revolution is even in the vernacular right now.

I say this with complete reverence for generations that have come before me(borderline genX/millenial). We owe everything we have to men and women much saltier than us on average. The debt is huge. But the cultural debt, and the financial debt deserve to be discussed seperately. It makes me really sad that our communication has broken down so much that the way to express the issue at hand is to think/speak ill of our elders. I wasn't raised that way, I don't behave that way, and I don't condone anyone else doing it. But laying the facts bare, and having an honest conversation about them will go a long way to repairing those lines of communication.

Mostly, I'm bummed that anyone would say that. Sucks!

AAAAGGGHHHH, worst case scenario, just when I thought I was home free.................found out that ALL my grandkids are on the way for the duration of the school closure. Isn’t it enough I get them all hunting season? Why me? Why now? Scary, a 5 yr old, 2 12 yr olds and a 13 yr old and here I am trying to just have a nice quiet isolation, well, that’s shot to heck. Now I need some warm weather so I can take them out shooting,........gives me an excuse to wear ear muffs and plugs.

I suppose this is the out come of human reaction when things go south...

I find it wise to do my own thing and help out where I can,,, young,,, Elderly,,, and middle aged folks,,, we're all human and its hard at times for us to toe the line... Ha...

I'm not ovetly worred about everything going on since my great grand folks went threw something similar in their life time,,, hardships will come and go,,, some folks will say things they don't mean,,, and the next puzzle in life is soon to follow...

Lifes to short to waist thinking about the small stuff,,, take care of our shelves first,,, assist others when we can and stay the course the best we can...

Our elders are in need in these tuff times,,, along with everyone,,, i find it wize to keep an eye open to those I chat with and run across,,, show the human side that we're concerned with the situation at hand and the little things we can do to help out,,, even if it means becoming a good listener... Ha

Alot of things are going into lock down up here in the North,,, its sure nice to have a place to chat on the forums to keep our human qualities active....

Rokslide is a web forum of awesome folks,,, the majority of them that is,,, I'll follow along with the folks that tap it kool and share in the good stuff,,, always willing to lend a helpful quote to those that need it as well...

I got to run,,, life is on the go and I hate to miss out on the happenings,,, if the phone rings or someone texts me of things that aren't working out,,, I only hope I can help out in some way,,, shape,,, or form...

The good dude qualities that is...

are you saying shit ain't addin' up? I agree, I have been asking the same question for you since this started.... i'm going through stages, and the stages have been pretty fast.... started out as mind blown and cannot wrap my head around the reaction.... now i'm numb to that (I guess I go through fast phases ;) ) and I have made it to the curiosity phase.... what's really going on here?

I have been getting some escape taking strangers fishing every day, but then reality sinks back in, especially if I stop at a store. schools are closed here until at least April 28 (that alone is gonna be tough for folks) all restaurants are closed, casinos are closed, no gatherings of more than 25 people, hoarding of all types, and now the cancellations have started for people fishing with us, can't blame them not wanting to spend dough right now.

this is certainly making history, hopefully just a blip we look back on, but it's bad…. it's not the virus but the backlash. today we had almost a boat full of high risk folks, only a couple that didn't fit that criteria.

work has been more pleasant than normal lately, being around other people I don't know, that are not in a frenzy, and none of the BS is being discussed on the ocean.... just enjoying our day. I have a feeling it's gonna be a slower than normal summer, but i'm hoping we have some sense of business as usual in a month or so, but I'm having my doubts.

this is a crazy time, and it makes no sense to my pea brain, even though I understand the concepts, I guess I really am that dumb.

luckily spring bear is right around the corner, and as long as we don't go full quarantine, i'll get to hunt a lot.... if we do, i'll still hunt a lot, because I have access to vast national forest behind my house.... not ideal to find a spring bear, but boy howdy i'll learn some stuff, haha.
