What would have happened if I would have shot this round?

I contacted them and got offered "swag" for it. Not really too interested in swag. I would much rather have the problem replaced with a proper solution not "swag"

I am generally uninterested in "swag", because it's usually shirts and hats that I won't wear.

I'd be particularly uninterested in it from a company I got defective and possibly dangerous product from.

What action is it built on?

It should hold zero for a few miles a road unless you are chaining it to the back and dragging it.

Yeah that pretty much where I'm at. That's what I told them. I hate asking for handouts from companies but offering clothing as compensation for bullets?

Rem 700. On paper this gun should shoot lights out. Trued/blueprinted action, um premier rings, nf bases, nf scope, bartlein steel barrel, manners stock, gunwerks suppressor. All work minus mounting scope was done by bartlein

I had a 243 round from factory nosler ammo that split light that. Thing is though I only noticed after it shot so I'm not sure if it had split prior to shooting or not. Was this nosler ammo?

To the original question, if it chambered I doubt anything significant would have happened. If it’s a fold in the brass I doubt your bolt would have locked.
I'll try it after work and see if the bolt will close. I'm alittle doubtful that it would have done too much. Maybe the worst would have been damage to the lands or the barrel?

i’m doubtful that bolt would have closed. But if it would and you’d sent it? This is just a guess but I think the bullet would have left the barrel and maybe the case would have became stuck.

On another note.

Is the 300RUM so much more impressive then the other 30 magnum that is worth practicing at $6.10/rd?

I can’t imagine I’d practice with it at all which isn’t a good thing.
If you're shooting it's worth practicing.

Somewhere between here and there
Have you removed your action screws, cleaned and decreased them, and re-torqued with Loctite? If not, that’s the very first place I would start.

Decrease, clean and reset all your bases and rings., Do that second

Shoot a group without the suppressor. Shoot a group with the suppressor. Swap scopes, shoot a different group. That should dial it in pretty quick for you.

Make sure the barrel is tight, not just snug. I don't use a torque wrench on barrels, but if I did, it would be in 80 to 100 ft lb range.

Is it bedded in the stock?

Bartlein trued the action?

My real question is the 300 RUM worth the cost to hunt/shoot over a different 30 cal magnum?
I think if that's the question we could have stopped at the 30-06 which is like $1.50 a round, or something much smaller.

Typically guys shooting these big@$$ magnums are doing it for the same reason people ride Harleys, or deck out their trucks. They just think it's cool, it's part of the fun.

The 300 RUM is not four times more powerful than an 06 at 4 times the price, so if that's what you're into you aren't trying to be as cost effective as possible.
