What if something that was 'actually' real bad happened?

I'm not sure that "panicking" over TP really qualifies as panic. Humorous, yes, panic, no. Panic is something that NO ONE laughs about. Life/death situations. I sincerely hope that we don't see any panic over this virus.

It's not just TP........have you not been to the store recently? Lines wrapped around the inside of the buildings waiting to check out. Schools closed all around the nation. All sporting events cancelled, including March Madness (now we have a new March Madness), large gatherings banned statewide........people are panicking over something.

The reaction we are seeing to 5000 people dead globally is unprecedented.

0.10% of the global population is over 7 million.

700,000 is around 0.01% of the global population.

70,000 is 0.001%.

7,000 is 0.0001%.

More people died from freak accidents in the same time span.

That's no different than the outrage and panic over mass shootings and guns, and then demands for gun control from the left when less than .00001% of our population show that they are incapable of acting responsibly with them. It's always the smallest of % that makes people completely freak out.

There are a lot of sides to the coin...

I don't have the answers to it... being the what if scenario...

It would be nice if this situation was not on the table,,, but 1 would think that lots of folks seen this coming down the pipe...

History showed us that there have been a few pandemics,,, I'd only guess that there are more that """could""" follow or not...

None of know this since it hasn't happened yet,,, the ones that """could or might""" happen down the road...

What question would a person ask... what if,,, how come,,, why now,,, whats the out come,,, whos,,, whats,,, whys,,, hows,,, and many other thoughts and feelings on top of that...

If this puts you in a unsuitable situation,,, then by all means take all the steps necessary to midagate the risks,,, can it be done,,, maybe...

Mask up,,, filter,,,, avoid contact with humans and bats,,, stock pile,,, lock the door and stay home... lots and lots of things a person and family can do...

I could do this,,, my health is so so,,, i probably /// will in the next few weeks or days,,, no one said i cant make my own TP,,, Plastic gloves,,, air mask... rubber air tight/water proof rain cover... skip a few weeks or months of work... what other choices do we have if the Americas goes into lockdown...

The same thing for other world pandemics...

Like the old guy said,,, whats a person to do...

Follow suit,,, lead,,, or get left behind... probably lots of other things a person could do...

If they say to stay at home then so be it,,, nothing I can do or changed since this is way bigger than little me...

A correction might be in the works,,, if not this one,,, maybe the next...

I don't wish this on anyone,,, but what is a middle age dude like me suppose to do with something's I have no control over...

The only control I have is what I have,,, nothing more and nothing's less,,, my life has always been this way...

People fear what they don't understand, I must say the media per usual is doing a poor job at educating.
I personally believe that if a Democrat were in office the media wouldn't be saying a word about it. If you recall, things were exponentially worse with the swine flu in Obama's term & all you heard was "no worries folks!"
I don't doubt the virus is a problem but compared to prior ones this one (so far) is much less deadly.
The media, Dems & the Deep State have done everything they can possibly do to take out Trump. Including making shit up everyday, illegally spying on American citizens and actually impeaching him for NO REASON.
I don't trust a single word the media says & thankfully, nowadays half the country doesn't either. Don't doubt for a minute that Pelosi, et al would be dancing on the graves of you & me if that's what it took to get rid of Trump.

Define “actually bad”, is it a combat firefight? Bombs being dropped a hundreds yards in front of you, mortar rounds exploding all around you? Or all the assorted “super dooper” viruses that have been showing up for the last 20+ years, maybe a zombie apocalypse? Sorry, can’t get excited about this new one. I take the same precaution for this as for a common cold, same as I’ve been doing all my life. Besides it’s not in my hands.

@Crowmangler nailed it. The media sees coronavirus as a tool to make Trump look bad, and they are taking advantage of it. The Clintons probably caused more deaths than coronavirus has.
I'm not trying to depreciate the value of life; each person that dies is a loved one, and a soul sent to eternity, but the people that die are old folks who have months, maybe a few years of life left anyhow. And a good percentage of them aren't really enjoying life anymore.

EVERY piece of US currency is printed
"IN GOD WE TRUST"
What happened to that trust?

WAKE UP AMERICA!

Quit worrying about Trump and elections and coronavirus and make sure your ready to meet God!

Not much into politics or conspiracy theories. If that is true it's going to backfire. This isn't going to be near as bad as they are predicting. Then the Administration can claim victory in stopping this horrible thing.

Just watched World War Z. That's why people are in "panic mode". Great flick.

Because of the measures being taken and attention to this virus it probably won't be that bad.

But we have no idea how it would have / could have turned out otherwise. Anyone who claims it is "not that bad" has no clue what they are talking about.

It’s just the beginning. If 20% of the population actually gets it, it will be something “bad”.

Out of how many millions of people that live there......I will shoot out a guess, 20-30 million. But lets say 10 million with 1,100 deaths.....

Based on current events can you imagine what things would get like and how fast that would happen if something really bad happened across the nation or world. The current situation may just be in its infancy which is also a scary thought.
I posted this somewhere else, but I read a comment from someone I know on face book that said, "can you believe something like this is happening in the 21st century?". It blew my mind that some people never even contemplate what could happen. Look at history, our time is just a peaceful anomaly compared to the constant conquer and re-conquer of the past.

Problem is we've made society so good that we've allowed the really stupid people to thrive still. It wasnt that long ago that "adults" were 16, getting married, and a group of 10 people randomly picked would probably have both the assorted knowledge and resources needed.

Plus people just genuinely care less about eachother. When I grew up (I'm still relatively young) I was still taught the value of human life and caring for one another. Now everyone is taught the other guy is evil and that's all that matters.

I hope all you internet experts are right. But unfortunately I don’t think you are. Most people that aren’t worried about it are under 65 years old and don’t have health issues. Selfishness at its finest...it’s the American way. Oh yeah, 370 people died in Italy today and they’re hospitals are full and are turning away people to basically go die. I guess they should get on rokslide to hear from the experts though.

I just got this from a buddy that posts on here. I’ll leave him unnamed. It’s worth the read.

Well, you might as well take your info from those to whom you refer derisively as "experts" as a software company CEO. But then listening only to what you want to hear and denigrating those who disagree has truly become the American way.
