What did you do in the reloading room today?

Yesterday but pulled bullets on more of my cousins old hand loads. For every five that are the mystery ball powder there's one that I assume is 4831 based on it being an extruded powder but I am still dumping all of the powder from them on the lawn when I get done

I reached a point of the ultimate nightmare. CCI large rifle magnum have become as rare as a virgin in a whorehouse. When I went to winchester primers the results were not comparable. That occured as I completed a 1 lb can of H4350 and hornady quit making 175 gr interlock round nose bullets.

For this many variables I'm back to building a ladder on 0.1 gr increments to see if I can re-establish the consistancy I had for 45 years with differant parts.

Scheels has some in stock and on sale if your near one with them in stock.

If that dosnt work blue collar has them

Let me know who to bill the finders fee to.

I was in Missoula scheels a week ago because someone told me they had some. The store told me hadn't had any for some time (CCI 250) but they certainly had everything but those.

I can predict when they are coming in. The day after I complete a new load with what I have. I still have 4 boxes of hornady interlocs 175 grain rn 175 gr. I do my testing on spire points and the fine testing on round nose. I hate to change those things that work.

Loaded another 100 45 ACP yesterday.
Need to get to the range for some more Load Dev on a few rifles. Weather here has been bad, so haven't been for some time.
Have 6.5CM,243, 300WSM & 7MM-08 Load Dev to go through.
Then need dies for my 6mm Arc and 223 to start those.

An atypically busy week at the reloading bench for me:
  1. Loaded 7mm Weatherby with 162 Hornady SST and 7828SSC
  2. Loaded 7mm Weatherby with 150 Winchester soft points and IMR-4831
  3. Loaded 300 Savage with H335 and Remington 150 core Lokt for testing
  4. Processed and primed 146 223 brass for loading with 55gr Hornady SP
  5. Mixed and created a new lot number of a few lbs of H4895 to keep things consistent
  6. Ditto with a few lbs of H335
  7. Loaded a few 357 Magnum test combos. This was due to some pressure issues I've lately had in a few of my 357 revolvers

First of my life, I did that 3 or 4 times. However, each time my reloading room got better and somewhat bigger. My current one even has a heater. Given 60 mph winds, drifting snow, and 20 degrees - the heater makes reloading something to look forward to.

cleaned and and sized 500 cases of 10mm. Next week I'll load them. I really need a progressive press but I just can't seem to part with the money for one so I just work through it.

Loaded 50 rds of 7-08 to go shoot steel and started a load work up using some CCI250 primers rather than 200.

I want see how the ES/SD is affected with the superformance powder.

Please report back. Curious about that powder with both primers

Powder has been showing good results. In all honesty, I just started reloading and it is the only powder I have used.

I’m trying the 250s to see if the magnum can get the ES/SD down. I’m finding that with a less than full case, the ES/SD goes up. But, with a fuller case using a book max charge, I get pressure signs

Accuracy has been pretty good using 150 eld-x and 162 eld-m.

With the 162s, I’ve been able to get over 2650 fps from a 19” barrel.

This is 5 shot group at book max. Average MV of 2660
One shot had a very slight ejector swipe.

Ugh. That sounds like a slog for sure. I love shooting them, but bulk prepping handgun brass might be the most monotonous task in all of reloading.

The magnum primer in that case could be contributing to the pressure signs, that's a fairly small amount of powder to be igniting with a magnum. I usually get more consistent results with regular large rifles, I'd bet you could add a grain or 2 of powder back in if you had the room and switched to a regular large rifle. The rifle seems to like that combo though, looks like it shoots pretty dang good.

The pressure was with a LRP at book max. I've played with the seating depths and get more pressure/velocity and higher ES/SD with the bullet seated out long. I backed off the load to try the MLRP but seated at a depth that has been yielding good consistency.

Being that it is a ball powder, I wanted to see how the magnum primers do.

It's all splitting hairs at this point, but that's half the fun for me.
