I Work for Ups at the customer counter. FYI all ups stores are franchises and are a poor representation for UPS as they are not ups employees.
Pirate ship or ship station is a great tool for casual shippers, get dimensions and weight right !

I bought some scope rings from a member here and agreed to pay shipping. Those brown clowns charged $28. I sold some scope rings recently and shipped them USPS w/ $100 insurance for $7 or $8.

For smallish items that are not classified as hazardous, USPS is pretty tough to beat. Pirate Ship offers similar rates to business accounts that ship frequently.

What's good about Pirate Ship is it offers options on one page rather than going to multiple separate providers to compare.

If it's for warranty work, I can't understand why Leupold won't send a pre-paid label. If you call them and explain the problem and they tell you it is a warranty issue, they should issue a return label. That would go a long way for quality customer service, and the customer won't get hosed for shipping the defective item back to them..

First, Pirateship is the way to go.

Second, I wouldn't bother with the insurance. Trying to get them to pay out is a giant pain. I just went through it last month for a 100 dollar item. I just gave up and cut my loses. I doubt they are going to be more accommodating the more they owe.
Yep. Even if it’s expertly packed they will do everything to find a way to blame it on the packing job and deny the claim… this is after dragging out their investigation for months, of course.

Why is Leupold making you ship their product back for warranty work? They should have UPS pick it up at your door. It would cost them $17.00ish dollars. I used to work for an Optic company and never once did we make someone pay for shipping on a legit warranty claim.

Ouch. If it were me, I would consider selling it and buying a Rokslide drop test approved scope. I actually did that before my original scope failed just to be safe.

As a side note, if your mk4 hd failed I’d (and I assume others) would be interested in hearing what went wrong with it.

Without clogging up or muddying your current thread, it might be good to post your results on this thread (or a different one if it’s a different model)

Will do. Hoping they can fix the issue and give me some assurance that it will be a good scope from now on.

So you got charged $86 just to ship it? How?

How is a good question.

The Shipment Receipt has on it: Ground Commercial $69.79, Service Options $42.20 (assume insurance) CMS Processing fee $6.22 = $112.21.

The CCard receipt has $112.21 + $17.43 for the box, several small credits then a total of $124.07.

Good question. Attached are the instructions.
