Maybe this is sexist or judgmental but it just kills me to see young women (I'm talking 20ish) with a bunch of random graffiti completely covering their arms, legs, back or even their neck.

No, it looks trashy. No interest in the tatted up girls. Girls covered in tattoos are like abandoned buildings covered in graffiti. Easy to enter, nothing of value inside, and a likely place to pick up diseases.

I may be late to this party given that the sheep show is over now but for future reference-
I have 6 tattoos. Each one has a meaning/reason behind it. Would i want some random tattoo for no reason? Me, personally, no i would not. I do not regret my tattoos at all but like i said there is a reason in each and every one of them. I've found that designing my own is what i like most about them. No one in the world has the exact same tattoo as me. If you have an interest in something you want to represent on your body maybe sit down and play with some designs. Like a sheep for example since its based off the sheep show, you could get the whole sheep face with a mountain scene shaded behind it like "average" idea that pops into the minds of others when the idea of a sheep tattoo is brought up. Or maybe you've been on a sheep hunt? Maybe there's a picture captured on that hunt that means something to you? Use that picture or a specific detail of that hunt that appeals to you most and design one based around that feature instead of the most obvious ones. A silhouette with someone special on a specific mountain range that only you could relate to in a specific time in your life. On the inside of my bicep i have a design of an arrow i found online but for my personal touch i have the outline of the antlers to a specific buck i had been after for a few years off of my favorite trail camera picture of him. I ended up hitting that buck with my bow after two years of ring around the property line with him. I never found him. I was very upset about it and began to question why i even bow hunted anymore when something that seemed perfect had ended up falling to pieces so quick. I found a saying that states "Hunting is about the journey. Not the outcome." I had forgotten that. So under the arrow with Crash's antlers in it (Crash was what i named the buck) I put "The journey continues" in a rough looking cursive print. It reflects on the time that even though it was rough and imperfect it was a completely perfected lesson. Finding a tattoo artist that does work that appeals to you is also important. Once you find one, sit down with them and run your idea by them. Their artistic mind may help finalize the perfect tattoo for you. My artist did that with my "Crash" tattoo and its one of my favorite pieces i have.

I have refrained from responding to this thread as well...but, I guess I will now. First, I have numerous tattoos and don't regret a single one of them. I am proud of each and every one. Each tattoo is something that I have either drawn or had the tattoo artist draw from one of my photographs. All have significant meaning to me. They tell my story. That is the key point...they are for me and no one else. Others can like them or not. I don't care what others may think. If others want to judge me on first impressions simply because I have tattoos, that is their loss not mine. If people can look past the tattoos and get to know me, they would learn that I have two masters degrees, work as a licensed professional engineer, love and support my wife and family with all that I am, hunt as much as I possibly can, donate time and money to wildlife conservation, and would give my last dollar to help a friend in need. I would humbly say that I have plenty of "value". I just choose to have tattoos; however, I do know and have seen numerous tattoos that people regret. Either something that has no meaning or the quality is just bad. A tattoo is not something to do on the spur of the moment, and take your time and find the RIGHT artist!!! It is also imperative that placement is considered. While tattoos are becoming more mainstream, there are still individuals and employers that will make snap first impression decisions about you! That means unless you are a professional athlete, rock star, tattoo artist, or trust fund millionaire probably should refrain from neck, face, or hand pieces. At my current firm, it was six years before any coworker knew that I had tattoos. Once my bosses found out, they asked why I covered them for so long. Like tattoos...don't like tattoos...that is up to an individual. But you can't/shouldn't judge a book by its cover!!

i have a relatively new one. i did regret it for about a week. but i'm old and i'm grouchy..and i waver like an idiot.

on other's..perfectly fine. on pretty girls! hell yes. i subscribe to the idea that a pretty girl can wear whatever, have whatever hairstyle, tat whatever..and in the end..they are still a hot chick.

my barista is fall down gorgeous and she has a few playful tattoos in stratigic areas..i love them!

my new tat? i really like it now that the shock has diminished.. it has meaning to me. profound meaning.

I like mine, but I agree with what a lot of others have already posted. If you're going to get something, put some thought into it and make sure it's meaningful to YOU.

My first and only tattoo so far. Only regret was not getting it sooner. I’ve wanted it for a couple years and finally found someone that I wanted to do it. The wolf is on my calf, I plan to do more scenery stuff And maybe another animal or something to complete it... one day.

I have my chest done with a pair of wolves. No regrets and my artist knocked it out of the park. Whether it’s a personal tattoo or just art, the important thing is to find a quality artist, there’s a lot of people out there who shouldn’t be tattooing.

I have a my chest done, as well as one on my back. Chest piece is meaningful and explains how I feel people truly are and sort of describes my opinion on human nature. The other one is just some nam looking one from when I was in the Army. Don't regret either, and whenever I get enough money I'll be adding to them. I would be cautious about getting one at a convention, but if they look good and have meaning for you, get it. Humans have been tattooing their bodies for thousands of years, only recently have we decided that it should be looked down upon.

I'll preface this by saying, I don't have any tattoos, but last year at the sheep show, they had a booth set up offering one of four sheep style tattoos. I was interested, but didn't get one. So, in anticipation of this year's sheep show if they offer that again, I'd like your thoughts.

1. Do you have a tattoo, and, if so, what prompted you to get it?
2. Any regrets after getting one?

I try and picture it on my body and if I haven't left the idea how in 6-12 months its probably going on.

After 6 years in the military and 30+ in hi tech, I’ve spent hours with friends in tattoo parlors in Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia Guam etc and not one tattoo. And no regrets
