My House representative contacted the ATF on my behalf. As expected, the ATF provided the same crappy response to them that the rest of us get. This is from an email sent today, my emphasis added:
"Thank you for your recent inquiry to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). This is in response to your Congressional Inquiry on behalf of your constituent, who is seeking an update and status check on several submitted ATF Form 4. Thank you for including the appropriate consent forms so that we may share all pertinent details relating to this inquiry.

Both the National Firearms Act (NFA) Division and the FBI NICS Section has experienced an unprecedented volume of incoming applications. As a result, backlogs in other areas of NICS processing have occurred. One of those areas is the processing of the NFA background checks. The NICS Section is making every effort to process NFA checks as volume permits. The NFA Division is doing everything possible to review your constituent’s ATF Form 4s as quickly as staffing resources permit.
The current average processing times may be found at:
https://www.atf.gov/resource-center/current-processing-times Please know that the times listed are average processing times. Some applications may take longer due to many factors.
Current processing time is 270-310 days and NFA is processing the month of June/July 2022."
