Suppressor wait times

These Sep/Oct certifications getting approved has me pumped. I certified early January 2023 and would love to have it by EOY.

Looks like individuals are getting a lot faster approval than trusts. Wonder if that’s by design?
It’s very odd the whole process and has no linear correlation between submission and approval, which makes it a bit frustrating.

I certified my first can on 7/6/22 and was approved 3/27/23 (264 days).

I have another can certified on 7/15/22 and I haven’t not received anything about it, yet folks are getting approved from October 2022.

I guess I should be happy I at least have one can to use to save my hearing.

I see approvals for November, yet you have a submission from July still outstanding. Certainly not going in order of submission. I am glad I got one of my two already, gtg for this years hunting. Would like the second, but not sure it will get done under 10 months.

Looking at approvals on Reddit it looks like the examiner Trish Bartles likes to to do batch approvals. Thirteen at once to one individual with wait times of 29 to 105 days. Another five at once to a different individual with wait times of 21 to 158 days. That means these guys bought some of these suppressors in March and are already approved if I'm reading it right. Makes no sense at all. Maybe the secret is to see how many you can put in jail.

Called my Congressman to advise him of the apparent intentional decision to NOT process apps in the order they were received, in an effort to artificially decrease "average" wait times. Coincidentally, this comes as the ATF director recently took heat for the long wait times on Capital Hill.

How do we know that they're actually doing that, or that it's the intent? All the early processing I've seen is either from batch approvals or companies who gave up FFLs.

Also, how does this artificially decrease average wait times? The unapproved old ones are still going to be dragging down the average.

Not my job to investigate it...that's what congress is for and why I pay my taxes.

Do you have any idea the ammount of tax dollars that was spent to get e-forms online with the promise/goal of 3 month waits? Have those wait times done anything but increase? Sounds to me like someone isn't being a good steward of taxpayer dollars.

I'm not arguing any of those points. I agree the process is awful, slow, and a giant waste of taxpayer dollars.

I'm asking about a claim you've made to your congressman, as I genuinely don't know if there's any validity to the claim. Investigating baseless claims would also be a waste of taxpayer dollars. Before I reach out to my congressman, I want to know why you think that's occurring?

That's what staffers are for bud. Congress, through their job of oversight would have far better access to the data as well as the resources to allocate to it.

Again, that's why you pay your taxes. Or are you under the impression you need to prove everything beyond a reasonable doubt before you can ask your representatives to look into perceived waste of taxpayer dollars?

It's not my job to spoonfeed you. Do your own research, provide them woth your own data, as anecdotal as it may be, and let them take it from there. Or don't.

I asked genuine questions which you haven’t addressed other than, essentially, “do your own research and have others waste time on taxpayer dime.” So I won’t engage you further.

Did you make it through school asking other people to do your homework for you too?

My man, you’re on an Internet forum and I just asked you a question about something you seemed to know about. Isn’t that what forums exist in part for?

How is that any different than the thread you just started asking about suppressor covers? What if everyone had just responded to your thread saying: “do your own research” or “do you expect others to do your homework”?
