I'm wondering if they batched a bunch for times to drop that much. Will have to check Reddit later when I get a chance.

Doesn’t seem like it. Lots in the 200-230 on Reddit last month. Yes some batches too but it was rare to see a 270 plus individual in April.

ATF is now stating average Form 4 processing for eForms is down to 232 days.....

My House representative contacted the ATF on my behalf. As expected, the ATF provided the same crappy response to them that the rest of us get. This is from an email sent today, my emphasis added:

"Thank you for your recent inquiry to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). This is in response to your Congressional Inquiry on behalf of your constituent, who is seeking an update and status check on several submitted ATF Form 4. Thank you for including the appropriate consent forms so that we may share all pertinent details relating to this inquiry.

Control # 2022652089, received 7/22/2022. Still pending.
Control # 2022689598, received 8/9/2022, still pending.
Control # 2022733208, received 8/29/2022, still pending.
Control # 202323788, received 10/13/2022, still pending.

Both the National Firearms Act (NFA) Division and the FBI NICS Section has experienced an unprecedented volume of incoming applications. As a result, backlogs in other areas of NICS processing have occurred. One of those areas is the processing of the NFA background checks. The NICS Section is making every effort to process NFA checks as volume permits. The NFA Division is doing everything possible to review your constituent’s ATF Form 4s as quickly as staffing resources permit.

The current average processing times may be found at: https://www.atf.gov/resource-center/current-processing-times Please know that the times listed are average processing times. Some applications may take longer due to many factors. Current processing time is 270-310 days and NFA is processing the month of June/July 2022."

Got a single approval.

I emailed the examiner within minutes of receipt and asked about my other pending forms, since they have a clear NICS background check for me and have cited that as a bottleneck/cause for delay. No response to the email, and I don't expect to receive one.

I think not doing batch approvals suggests they don’t want a shorter approval process. It would be so easy to approve all your submissions on a single background check. it might be unfair to start as recent submissions would jump over early submissions, but it would work out once the whole process gets shorter and no one is waiting 9+ months.
