My X bolt has the exact same barrel in my 6.8W Mountain Pro. Although I worried the can would negatively affect accuracy, it is more accurate with the can (significant POI shift). I use a SilencerCo Ebo, but am saving up for the Scythe.

It is not as unwieldy as I expected because my Mountain Pro is very light. Great for open areas and blind hunting.

NOTE: X bolts have metric threading. You will need to purchase a direct thread mount to match the threading.
Great note regarding the x-bolt threading…thanks!

My primary rifle has a 27" barrel, and using a backcountry suppressor with it have never had an issue or wished for a shorter barrel. I would rather have the extra velocity and run a milder load.

good feedback…..I actually didn’t realize a shorter barrel would be louder. I knew it hurt velocity and energy a bit but the noise increase is interesting.
All things being equal, a longer barrel will be more quiet than a shorter one. Is it something you'll notice 20" versus 24"? Probably not. 16" versus 24", yeah you'll hear that difference. My 24" 300wm was so mild it was crazy though, I loved hunting with that thing.

I just ordered a threaded 24 inch barrel in 25-06. Everything I read said that caliber is being short changed with a short barrel. I will get a 6 inch suppressor. I did get an xlr folding stock, which I think will negate the suppressor and barrel length when on my pack. I also don’t think it will be bad in my gun bearer.

I hunted with one this year. 24 inch barrel with a DD LTI. About 32 inches of barrel length. I used a Kifaru gun bearer and had no issues. I’ll go shorter with the next barrel but I’m gonna shoot this one out first.

Use it at 24" and see if you notice. Can always chop later.

I did that and ended up doing the chop. Wasn't that bad to use the rifle at 24"+can, but I didnt lose a meaningful amount of velocity by chopping either.

I mostly carry my rifle when backpacking using the kifaru gunbearer which really helps keep a long rifle low and less “snagy”. I haven’t found it too cumbersome to run my 24 inch barreled rifle with my scythe ti as long as I am using the gunbearer. When I switch to just having it slung in my shoulder that is a different story.

I have a gun bearer, too. In the past couple of years I switched to the exo k4 gun carrier - but if I buy a suppressor I may go back to the gun bearer

Did one season with a 24" and a 6" can. Felt like I was toting a musket around. Getting it in a case that would fit was difficult and getting in and out of vehicles was also a pain.

I have an 18" barrel on the way and I don't think I'll ever go past 22" for a suppressed rig again.

I hunted for two years with a suppressor but have used a brake the last couple of years. The suppressors just don't reduce recoil like a brake. Even running a 9" 338 suppressor didn't reduce a 6 Creed like a brake does. I like to spot my shots/misses without a spotter. I'm now reducing my loads so I can go back to suppressors and spot my shots.

I used a 6.5 Ultra gen 1 for hunting. I ran it on a 26" barrel so with a 7" suppressor it's quite long. Out here in the west it's not a big deal but in the woods it would suck.

I might run a brake on a rifle I can grab when no one is hunting with me and I can wear ear protection throughout the hunt. Brakes are nice for spotting shots.

Are you saying find a suppressor with threading to match browning or is there an adapter?

I run suppressors on 26 inches. I leave them off walking normally and thread them when I’m stationary. Works fine that way for me.

Rifle is zeroed with can on; but know my minimal deviations without the can.
