Building an AR-10 and leaning heavily towards 8.6 BLK. If I am going to run this round I need a can.
What barrel length and can to use for a SBR/Rifle/Pistol that is goanna be used suppressed 100% of the time?
Primary concern is budget and then weight.
I am not going to be using this to burn down full auto mag dumps but rather single shot work on pigs or culling of deer.
Looked at the Banish 9K but its seems (?) to only be rated for 300 BLK....?

I’m inclined to suggest one of the TBAC 338 cans, but most of them seem pretty big and heavy. The Silencer Summit has good comparison data for them. Focus on SE dBA for sound ratings.

Also take a look at the US/UM roadmap to decide if you want to wait for them to release something that might work.

With budget and weight as a primary concern I’d give these a look:

Diligent Defense DTF-STI (we have a DTF-LTI in stock)
Q Short Chop

If you don’t mind more weight:

YHM Bad Larry
SiCo Omega 36M

If you don’t mind a higher price:

TBAC Ultra 338 (heavy too)
FOR Predator (not released but we can get you specs and take pre-orders)
AB Raptor
CAT BBK
Rugged Alaskan360Ti

I would give a hard look at AB. I think they make all the raptor cans in a 338.

Yes, I had forgotten that the AB cans came in 338. I second that recommendation . I am picking up my AB Raptor 8 and 10 today.

My trip to the range on Saturday morning is going to be fun. I’ll have the two Raptors, an OG, and my Scythe for comparison.

Lightest and shortest can that can handle 338 and would be fine for just a 8.6 would be the Rugged Alaskan 360 Ti in DT configuration.

I have the standard. With the 30 cal end cap it works very well with my 7TCU rifle. With the 35 cal end cap and using it on my 338 Sherman Mega, it is definitely not hearing safe, but it does take away the muzzle blast and some of the recoil, so it is acceptable to me.

Completely forgot the 360Ti was a 338 can. Definitely short and light, but spendy.

I run a 375 raptor can on my 35 cals and they work well. With subs it’s really quiet on a fixed breech. I expect they would work equally well in 338. They are pretty light when run as a DT vs reflex. If light is the primary criteria, I would get the 8 stack.
