My X bolt has the exact same barrel in my 6.8W Mountain Pro. Although I worried the can would negatively affect accuracy, it is more accurate with the can (significant POI shift). I use a SilencerCo Ebo, but am saving up for the Scythe.

It is not as unwieldy as I expected because my Mountain Pro is very light. Great for open areas and blind hunting.

NOTE: X bolts have metric threading. You will need to purchase a direct thread mount to match the threading.
Great note regarding the x-bolt threading…thanks!

My primary rifle has a 27" barrel, and using a backcountry suppressor with it have never had an issue or wished for a shorter barrel. I would rather have the extra velocity and run a milder load.

good feedback…..I actually didn’t realize a shorter barrel would be louder. I knew it hurt velocity and energy a bit but the noise increase is interesting.
All things being equal, a longer barrel will be more quiet than a shorter one. Is it something you'll notice 20" versus 24"? Probably not. 16" versus 24", yeah you'll hear that difference. My 24" 300wm was so mild it was crazy though, I loved hunting with that thing.

I just ordered a threaded 24 inch barrel in 25-06. Everything I read said that caliber is being short changed with a short barrel. I will get a 6 inch suppressor. I did get an xlr folding stock, which I think will negate the suppressor and barrel length when on my pack. I also don’t think it will be bad in my gun bearer.

I hunted with one this year. 24 inch barrel with a DD LTI. About 32 inches of barrel length. I used a Kifaru gun bearer and had no issues. I’ll go shorter with the next barrel but I’m gonna shoot this one out first.

Use it at 24" and see if you notice. Can always chop later.

I did that and ended up doing the chop. Wasn't that bad to use the rifle at 24"+can, but I didnt lose a meaningful amount of velocity by chopping either.
