FNG here. Been reading over the years, but this is my first .30cal suppressor and I appreciate any guidance.

Rifle: Tikka T3x Roughtech .300WM
Scope: Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50mm 35mm (37oz)
Suppressor: That’s why I’m here. I’d decided on the Scythe Ti and then found a 45 page thread here about the failures.

I knew going into the Scythe I was not getting optimal suppression (~137db for .300WM, just below 140db) and recoil reduction, but I’m a fan of the weight and small profile.

The head man at my LGS said to take the extra weight and size and go CGS Hyperion.

Scythe: 6.16”L, 1.73” diameter, 7.3oz
Hyperion: 9.5”L, 1.75” diameter, 15oz

Size/weight, 3D printing vs welding, 3D printing remnants left in the can, 3D printing is the future, so on and so forth - the rabbit hole gets deep.

I’ve realized I value suppression and recoil reduction over the weight and profile, but I’d appreciate any guidance from those who own both.

Appreciate the help,
FNG

I do not own both, but having had my scythe blow up, I would not buy one again.

When I owned a 300 win mag, my tbac Ultra 9 tamed it very well.

The hyperion is a really good can. Another worth looking at is Dead Air Nomad Ti XC. Unknown Suppressors has some cans on deck that have my attention as well.

If money isn't a concern and you can find one in stock TBAC Magnus S SR RR 338

My Scythe was awesome on my 300WM, until it wasn’t 😂

I’ve got a delayed purchase for a Hyperion K (avoid the tax stamp cost). So that would be a more reasonable size than the full size Hyperion.

I use a standard Dead Air Nomad 30 on my 21" barreled 300WM. It does a very good job reducing the recoil and suppressing the rifle. I have never metered it, but I have used it on a couple of different hunts now and it has never left my, or the folks with me, with ringing ears after the shot. I can still hear my impacts as well.

I have shot the Nomad Ti XC, but not on a 300WM. It was great on a 6.5 Creed and a 308. I am sure it would be great on a 300WM as well.

No experience with those but have a lot of rounds through printed cans.

Printing powder left in the can is just the nature of the beast and is really a non issue. You will get some sparking as it burns out but it’s really only visible at night. Even then, a welded Ti can is going to spark anyway. Can be a concern if you plan on shooting under night vision and are trying to minimize signature.

TBAC Ultra, DD Enticer LTI, DA Nomad Ti XC, FOR Monarch Ti V2, CAT, or some of the Unknown Suppressors would all be solid options.

Scythe is a great can but I personally wouldn’t put it on 300WM after seeing all the failures.

CAT JL. If you want suppression and light weight - that’s it. If you want a shorter can, this is not it.

By far the quietest bolt gun can I’ve experienced

Scythe is best can, on paper, for what you are looking for. I love mine, but that relationship might change when/if it blows up. 😆 I'm still gonna send it, until I can't. Sounds like there may be some start of acknowledgement happening at Sico. Time will tell. UL7 would be great too.

As the self-appointed chairman of the welcoming committee, it is my privilege to extend a laurel, and hearty handshake (virtual, of course) to our new member.

I am going to buy a new suppressor for a 22in 300WM. I was completely sold on the Scythe until recently. After looking into the newer Omega 300 DTM, I’m debating seriously on going with it. It is 4oz heavier and is supposed to be very effective for recoil reduction.

Not sure if anyone has first hand experience with that suppressor on a 300WM or comparable??

I picked up the rxdi30 for my 22" 300wm, I havent had the chance to shoot it yet. I have a enticer sti, seemed a little loud on the 300wm.

This is the sound info that allegedly comes from Dead Airs engineering department, info came from the manual.
