Should I have my barrel shortened for suppressor?

18” 6.5 Creedmoor, and I also run 143gr ELDx.

I love the shorter length, but still wanted shorter so I got a shorter suppressor. I run out of velocity for bullet performance around 530 yards, but that’s acceptable for me. I’ve taken it past 1000 at the range, and could still make hits although the wind was a challenge.

You could also consider a folding stock to make it less unwieldy on the pack. I’m planning a HNT26.

I have a 21" 300 WM and my MV with 180 grain partitions is around 2890, but I have room to go higher, I just don't because this load shoots so well.

In my experience with the long-action mags, you will lose about 20-30 fps per inch until you hit about 20" and then it will start to jump to around 50 or more per inch. The short, fat mags don't start hitting that wall until somewhere between 16-18".

I’ve shot a lot of cut down magnums. 20-30 fps per inch all the way to 16 inch has been normal. The belief that some rounds do better in a shorter barrel has been a complete myth.
