Senate vote public lands sale

Just sent Mike Lee a lengthy email expressing how strongly I, my family, and friends disagree with the bill and how it would have negative ripple effects to anyone that recreates outdoors in the mountains states.

Keep pounding away folks. My kids don’t hunt, but this is one of the most important things I feel I can do for them. Snowshoeing, camping, rafting, mountain biking, climbing, you name it. Public lands have been a cornerstone of recreation and connection with nature and wilderness for our family.

Taken on land up for disposal.

Over the past couple days, I've submitted email forms to Senators Lee, Cruz, Cornyn, Risch, Crapo, Daines, and Sheehy voicing my disagreement. Glad to see Senator Risch come out against it... We are making a difference! Keep our foot on the throat

We need a complete solution to the problem from you or I don't wanna hear your opinion 🙄
Not a well thought out response. Civility DOES exist here and discourse is a healthy exchange of ideas without combative language. Nothing personal, but calling out your approach to discussion is wholly appropriate.

Civility goes both ways. Kurt has made a point of belittling my opinion, calling him on his BS should be acceptable imo. Him preaching about nuance and shades of grey is humorous although sarcasm may not have been the best approach.

Folks:

I'm not so certain from the response I received from Senator Risch's office that he's fully supportive of the preservation of Idaho's public lands - judge for yourselves from his email, which I received yesterday:

"Dear Mr. ------:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding our public lands. I appreciate hearing from you.

As an Idahoan, I understand and enjoy the important benefits of our public lands and national parks. They enrich our environment, offer an abundance of beautiful landscapes, and provide an excellent place for all kinds of recreation. I take a deep interest in the conservation and maintenance of these treasured areas as well as continued access for all to visit and enjoy these great American places.

In a state like Idaho - where two-thirds of the land is owned by the federal government - we have unique insight into the impacts that overly-prescriptive, inflexible land management policies can have on people and communities, as well as local and state government. Abuse and misuse of public lands must be discouraged. I believe in Idahoans' rights to have a say in how federal lands are managed in Idaho.

Again, I value your effort to get in touch with me to share your thoughts, as many Idahoans do. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future on this or other issues.

Very Truly Yours

James E. Risch
United States Senator"

I have not received a response from Senator Crapo's office regarding my communication concerning this subject.
