MAP - Public Lands for Sale in US Senate Bill

I don't think that's going to make the point you want. The vast majority of Americans have no use for undeveloped public land. Development, on the other hand, is a huge economic boost.
There’s millions of acres of undeveloped private ground in terribly economically depressed areas. Undeveloped space does not by itself make a huge economic boost.

Has anyone considered that this was a ruse to get support to have the 20 million illegals that were welcomed with open arms by the Biden administration deported? That would immediately solve our housing crisis.
Aw yes. The good ole days before the Biden administration when houses were so cheap and affordable…. lol, this ain’t it.

I’d be in the needs to be a net positive for the public category in order to transfer. I like some of the trades that have been made. Some people go nuts because it’s a net acreage loss but the quality available to the public goes up. I’m okay with that. I’m not okay with slow chipping away without clear benefit. I’m in the no single transaction that doesn’t have an environmental, wildlife, or hunting fishing access benefit. Remember, mining companies etc.. aren’t in their board meetings going “well, what about the hunters?” Advocate selfishly, the other side is.

Here are some small parcels in Reno NV. Are you against selling these for market value?

Two of those parcels look like good option because they don’t have access. I have a little piece of BLM that provides great winter hiking and mtb near my house that looks very similar to the one on the butte so I’d say that one probably is serving a good public purpose with the trails just judging from this image. Sell them for enough to buy more seeding for wildfire recovery or to buy parcels that open up access. All for it. Sounds like a potential net benefit, what I don’t want to see is them offloaded for nothing as a favor to developers.

Map also goes to show how much undeveloped private land is still available for creating housing. Having that space go to private hands wouldn’t magically make anything cheaper. Space isn’t typically the limiting reagent in affordable housing in markets affected by adjacent public lands.

Why not just use the currently existing policies to sell/trade them. There is no need for this new bill which has much less oversight.
Same reason there's 800 other things that get tracked on to bills. Everybody throwing their pet project at bills they expect to pass knowing it's their only chance. The whole system needs to be changed.

That sounds about perfect.

Yeah no, one of my closest friends is a lifelong blm manager.

There’s a lot of properties that are just problematic either because of the homeless or other reasons they’d love to dispose of in a much easier fashion.

If they put together a program like southern Nevada has around Vegas, it’d be much easier to trade out properties etc.
