Senate vote public lands sale

Lee may become an outcast to his own party

By this time next week, GOP reps and senators are going to be saying:

"Mike Lee? You mean the martial arts guy? Loved him in 'Year of the Dragon'...."

FLPMA is one of the processes that are being bypassed. I think that the Wildlife Federation and HOWL serve our interests in DC quite well. Anyway, I support those organizations because their focus is on hunting and fishing opportunity. I support BHA also because we need just as many dogs in this fight that we can muster. This Bill is a simple majority vote. The Republicans own Congress and they will decide if our public lands are sold off or not. If a lobbyist carries liberal baggage to DC with them, Republicans may not give enough attention to their argument.

Republicans’ focus on this bill is tax cuts and reducing the size of government. It looks good on paper, sell off as much public land as possible to keep the deficit down which will help to make tax cuts viable. But they need to realize that the elephant in the room is the outdoor sports industry. I haven’t seen any data but I have heard it is a $1.3 trillion Industry. I will go out on a limb and just say that it is a 2 trillion dollar industry. I am talking about boat builders, rifle makers, optics, sportswear, bikes, etc. you get the picture.

Tax cuts won’t do the Outdoor Industry much good if they don’t have the profit to tax because they will lose profit if public lands are sold off. Most of the investors of the larger Outdoor Corporations are not in the Western states that have land on the chopping block. I would like to point out that states with large counties are sparsely populated. There are only a handful of cities in the affected western states that are larger than 500K. Nevada and Arizona are the only western states that are swing states. This Republican Congress needs to understand that there are millions of voters in Red States and a multi-Trillion dollar industry that does not want Public lands in the West sold off.

Civility goes both ways. Kurt has made a point of belittling my opinion, calling him on his BS should be acceptable imo. Him preaching about nuance and shades of grey is humorous although sarcasm may not have been the best approach.
When did I hurt your feelers?

Did he feel out a report?

No he didn’t so it’s hard to know what I did.
Again with the BS anytime anyone is critical of the current administrations ideas you begin throwing insults and making excuses. Look back at the tariff thread for starters.

I believe he's a cynical actor. Even if they take this out of the BBB, this is will not be the end of it.
Yeah we’d be a fool to believe him. Public land sales have been his life’s work as a Senator.

This won’t stop until the people of Utah finally wake up and primary him. I’m hoping this latest shenanigans of his has finally done that.
