How would UM have-

When the first post of this stock was the night bondo was applied and sanded to be scanned for the first 3d print? You know there isn’t an actual stock even made yet, right? Not only that, there is still the possibility that once the test stocks come out of the mold and get used by us, that the design gets tweaked. So how can there be a “FAQ, “pics”, “videos”, “tutorial”, or “sizzle reel”? Although, I believe every question you and others have asked are in this thread, the podcast, or the Chassis Versus Stocks thread that’s has been linked to multiple times.

Can you point out or name a single stock or maker that included a forum in the iterative design from the very beginning?

Even with all that, what has been shown is a tiny fraction of what has transpired.
I don’t doubt all that. I guess what it all boils down to is my confusion over how a product is being put up for sale, when there isn’t a product yet.

I greatly appreciate all that is being done behind the scenes, and I’m sure I will eventually be a benefactor of all the effort, it’s just a different way of offering something for sale. Not saying it’s wrong, it’s just odd.

There is nothing to be confused about. They said from the beginning they were going to involve Rokslide during the development. Normally you would never see any of this development (assuming another stock would even go through such an iterative development). Accept that this is different and simply understand where they are in development and set your expectations accordingly. They are not to the point of developing fancy marketing slicks, it is ridiculous to expect that from them. Anyone on the pre-buy is trusting the process to deliver a stock that meets the objectives they described. If you don’t trust the process, just wait.

I listened to it. Mostly enjoyed it. Could’ve done without the language as I had kids in the car too. I must admit though, when the tangents and sidebars start, I hit the fast forward. I tried, I really did. Maybe I should’ve popped an adderall first. As I said before I even listened to it, the podcast could use a bullet pointed, Reader’s Digest version IMO. Got some questions answered, yes, but a few remain. They were probably answered but I really struggled to stay technically engaged amidst all the banter, which is the problem I have with all podcasts. It’s me, I know. It’s not the presenters. The content was good, I just have the attention span of a fruit fly. Podcasts just aren’t my thing. I don’t like hearing myself talk for more than a few minutes either!

IMO, UM would really do themselves proper by simply including more info on their website. Where’s the FAQ? Where’s the pics? Where’s the videos? Where’s the tutorial on how and why? Every other stock company has sizzle reels exhibiting the features. They could’ve nipped all this bombardment of unnecessary questions in the bud by simply providing more info up front. I feel sorry for their customer service guy, but it’s largely self inflicted.

Or maybe the marketing strategy was intentionally opaque, to generate the buzz and interest? Idk, it’s an interesting tactic whether intentional or not.
Another aspect is that we are too damn impatient to wait until there is an actual product to buy, and Ryan was probably sick of the “when can we order one?” Constantly

A normal civilized group of people would probably be ok waiting for the product to actually exist before ordering it, but we ain’t that

@Ryan Avery @WKR etc.

Here’s a girl who shot 3 rounds from this stock ever, before the start of the video- 1 shot at each target to get her data. 3 different runs. First the targets, then her shooting those targets, rinse and repeat.

Target #1 was -12° down angle. Target #2 was 0°- straight. Target #3 was at 15° up angle.

It sure looks like a parallel toe was a real problem.

Yup, she struggled with the stock. Can’t reach trigger comfortably, get a good point of aim, muzzle all over the place. Just a mess. [/sarcasm]

Yea…none of that happened. Also, stock looks more svelte than I thought. Dare I say, good looking!

I'm assuming the 3D print is about at its limit with a supressed .223

It was very interesting watching the recoil impulse at the scope end. It never once wandered (as far as I could tell) away from her direct line of sight. Very straight recoil impulse.

I'm dying to see how it acts with a little more recoil (no rush! I know it doesn't exist yet! 😁)

Very much. It started crushing or melting already- it dropped elevation by almost a mil in 20-30 shots.

Less than .5 mil shift in any direction so far.
