Revolvers

I picked up a scandium 44 mag last year. That thing is a joy to tote around the mountains, but man is it brutal to shoot with magnum loads. 44 specials are fun though.

Sweet setup. Handgun hunting is a ton of fun and gets around the weapon restriction zones up here in MT.

Any idea how the Ultradots do with an astigmatism?

If yours is anything like mine, you will get a "double dot". It is giant PITA right now for me because with my glasses on everything past 5 yards is very blurry, but without them then any dots (including my bow sights) are doubled up and I have to figure out which one is the "real" dot.

Farsighted or reading glasses?

Anything green is the worst offender for me. The Holosun with the chevron actually looks pretty good with my eyes.

For years I packed a Taurus Ti Tracker in 45acp.
Good little package, lightweight, limited to 5 rds.
Replaced it with the SW 386 Hunter...6" barrel, good FO sights, 7rds, Scandi.
Good package for hiking, drawing the 6" barrel from a hip holster is a long draw, recoil was 'noticeable' with 180gr hardcast 357.
I determined the ergonomics of the revolver were less than optimum and I can shoot my Sig 365
X better and with BB 147gr hardcast, I can put 12 on target easier than I could shoot the revolver so it went down the road for considerably more $ than I paid.
I still have a 686-3 and a SW 14 Target Masterpiece that has deeper bluing than I've seen on any other production firearm.

While inferior for use in the woods, pistols are cheaper and easier to learn to use well. You kind of have to be an adult to make the better choice.

Not sure why you're hung up on .357, tho. Whenever the question is handgun, the answer is always .44.

I've got nothing against semi-autos—have owned several and carried several on duty, but now only own revolvers—9 shot .22, 5 shot .38, 5 shot .44 mag, all S&W.
