Love my corrugate foundry pants. Had to hold my nose buying them from first lite.
Tried every other pant, but those were perfect for my needs. I’m not trading them in because y’all don’t like them- or I don’t like first lite business practices.
I wear First Lite because it fits and it works.
I have not found it to be subpar in any way.
Sitka specs their clothing to longer arms and legs.
Doesn't work for me.
Why the hate on First Lite, anyway?

I already have and I said it directly to Matt on another thread

I have no idea if your two tags and an elk is success to you

You labeled anyone agreeing with Matt bitter and unsuccessful, which doesn’t help the conversation, is unproductive, and flat out wrong. Matt also has a full freezer each year. This doesn’t mean there aren’t issues in the “industry” worth talking about and least someone has the guts to put their life on hold and spend thousands of dollars to combat these problems at the same time as starting an org for helping landowners and hunters unite as a thank you for those enrolled in block management.

I'm sorry to offend your hero but matts radicalism is so off putting that the only logical explanation is some kind of shortcomin on his part... people that reach as far as he does to extract the negativety from any one situation rarely exudes success..I mean this guy has mentioned having a 1elk a year nation wide bill proposed because he knows what you need better then the game management

He has might as well be a Peta member for all I am concerned

I agree with you on this point, it’s unfortunate that Matt Rinella goes so over the top on a lot of his points, he has a lot of very strong points to be sure and his message gets watered down with those over the top ideas and statements and I am guessing there is a little bit of ADHD involved to the point that he jumps from one issue to the next(I’m not faulting the guy, but he needs to finish out a thought)

A perfect example is when he says that we don’t need anymore hunters, his guest will often say something to the effect of “are you saying I shouldn’t raise my kids to be hunters” and he moves right on to the next point, whereas if you read his writings he has said that rather than promoting hunting through social media, advertising and new hunter events that we need to go back to the old model of recruitment through friends and family, yes some people will come to hunting and eventually lose interest and fade away but hunting will sustain itself in perpetuity through those channels. Instead of finishing this idea he leaves it at we need to stop recruiting hunters. I think he is really a guy who’s thoughts are meant for long form written medium vs audio and dialogue as he seems to have a hard time getting his full message out in audio.

100%. Just don’t understand why he takes it to such an extreme level. Especially with family in the same business.

Business Mostly. Lol
I don’t like their return policy.
I also don’t like that it’s made overseas (so is Sitka) and I hate the constant push for “more content” to sell clothing.

Lol whos the bitter one in this thread then? You're not good at listening, hes not for any goverment regulations. That was a silly statement he made after calling out multiple big name influencers for killing 4 elk, 3 bears, 20 deer, etc in a single season and feeding their dogs and everyone in the neighborhood all year long while others who want to hunt are waiting years for a tag.

I'm sure many of you are just as "radical" or brash with a strong belief you have in life, whether gun control, mandated jabs, something. Don't let it cloud the bigger picture of what SM influencers are doing to hunting at a rate in which makes 80's/90's huntig media look like cable news vs podcasts today. Times have changed, we better self regulate our lifestyle before every tag is a OIL for our children.

If these “influencers” can get the tags, why can’t the people waiting years for them? I hunt quite a bit every year, and most of my hunting is done with otc tags that anyone could go buy. In my experience, the so called lack of opportunity in hunting is generally a cop out for lack of effort.

I personally won’t wear it solely because of it being under the Chernin umbrella. It absolutely is good gear. They fit great and perform well. I had a very large FL kit at one point but when Chernin bought the brand I sold it all and moved to a “different” brand that makes Matt Rinella want me to never hear his voice again. Oh well, I still sleep well. 😂

I have 11 big game tags this year...none of them took points or big pockets..... so why are they waiting again ?? They want to hunt so bad but arron snider swooped in and took them all ?? 😂 he just like the grinch that stoll Christmas but with tags right ? It's a direct ratio from arrons hunts to general hunter participation across the west right ?? It's just a stupid argument

I would like to know what makes Matt Rinella’s opinion any more important than anyone else’s?
Matt is the only thing that makes Matt think his opinion is the correct one.

And anyone disagreeing will never get a word in to explain why.

For all of you who hate Matt, or think of him as a closed minded bully, I suggest that you listen to the podcast episode that he did with Randy Newberg.

Some of you are dismissing Matt as a crackpot who is doing a poor job of getting his crazy ideas across. I will ask you guys this: prior to Matt kicking up a fuss, when was the last time you heard hunters openly debating the topics that Matt is upset about?

The article about Sitka’s snowboarder mentioned the debate that is happening regarding hunter recruitment. Randy Newberg has said that he reevaluated his online content and has made changes.

I would credit Matt with making hunters and hunting companies take a hard look at how our impact of our actions.

The influencers are buying up landowner tags and private land opportunities, telling everybody look at me, you can do this to, just apply for this state and that state. More people applying every year and yes there are still OTC opportunities but they are being cracked down upon especially for the nonresident hunters. I live in Idaho so it’s hard for me to complain about lack of opportunity, but I do apply in several other states and I’ve noticed the increased difficulty in drawing tags out of state in the last 4-5 yrs

Anyone else listened to the latest "Hunt Quietly" episode? It's a strange thing with Matt. I get some great food for thought from him and also finding myself spitting out stuff that isn't edible to me.

Overall, I enjoy the discussion. But in today's obviously drunken tirade, he said and doubled, tripled, quadrupled............ down that anyone who will ever buy another piece of Sitka gear needs to lose his number.

I think I will oblige him.

I do use Sitka gear. It's comfortable and it fits me exactly how I like it. Will I buy any in the future? Possibly. I have plenty right now and see no need for another piece right now, but who knows what the next need is?

I could honestly just disregard this as what it was, but I truly think Matt needs some help with the addiction and I'm tired of trying to sift through the rants to get the meat.

So what say you?
I think that anyone who puts much stock in a persons opinion, who obviously got popular by riding on the edge of taboo on a lot of hunting subjects, is going to end up where you are. Disappointed.

I will never understand because I don’t have time to listen to a lot of what other people think to form an opinion on any topic. Especially hunting clothing.

Grown men talking about anything like a pack of women gossiping will result the same way the women do. Some are going to be empowered. Some just like talking about other people. And, some will get their feelings hurt.

I’d do that, but I’m not allowed to ever listen again. He told me so.

1) Landowner tags.

2) Do you know anything about point creep? Arizona late season archery? Wyoming elk draw odds? Montana draw odds? Idaho for the NR? You used to be able to hunt these states for elk every single year. OTC is seeminly going away as Colorado will surely end this in the next 5-10 years, many are saying this at least. Theres only a few dozen more examples of lost opportunity. Go check the graphs on any tag hub or F&G site, the direction we are heading is down the drain for yearly opportunities. Thus the arguement that we need more hunters is lame.

Your midwest unlimited whitetail tags hunting private dont mean chit to anyone. I know you dont have 11 elk/mule deer tags.

I listened to the podcast. Before this thread I didn't know it existed, didn't even know there was a Matt Rinella. Just listening to voice and cadence he is for sure Steve's brother.

As much as I personally dislike people buying their way into anything, hunting included, I don't think it should be or even can be stopped. The root of that is I don't like people telling me how to spend my money and I afford others the same latitude. The whole "don't listen to my podcast if you buy Sitka" is bizarre and childish. Don't count my money and don't think you can control who does or doesn't listen to something you make publicly available.
