If it is so radical then why are people listening and joining him in his efforts?

And out of curiosity what do you do if you fill all 11 tags? Give away the meat?

I believe 90% of hunters are unsuccessful, they tie drawing tags to success so they when they don't draw there spirits get down, they blame others for the situation and Matt does a good pulling negativity out of any nook an cranny he can to support what ever his argument is...esp during draw season its gas on fire for a frustrated public

In regards to my tags and meat I'm sure if I'm lucky I will fill 3-4 tags and yes I will share the meat with good friends but mostly family that is too old to hunt

What do you mean that they "tie drawing tags to success"?

Something frustrating about Matt (and I do understand where he’s coming from) is that it seems like he’s willing to sacrifice actual progress through compromise and being more reasoned because he is so dead set on his methodology and convictions around hunting issues.

This frustrates me with people I agree with, and people I don’t. If you’re not willing to make concessions to advance your cause, then you care more about the idea than actual solutions.

50% of something is better than 100% of nothing…

I wish Matt was more open minded to other ways to go about his end goal. While I do agree with some of his viewpoints, it almost seems he’s contradicting himself by having a podcast and social media page 😂

He’s not killing for content, nor making money. Where is the hypocrisy? He’s stated clearly social media itself or podcasts are not the issue.

3 percent? The places I hunt must attract a different demographic of hunters because I have a vastly different impression.
I'm with you. I know several guys that can make a 500 yard shot. I've killed a pronghorn at 642 and multiple deer over 500. It's not a shot you should take unless you've practiced at that distance and it's not the easiest thing to do, but it's not 3% or less of guys imo.

Twenty or even fifteen years ago that was a different story. I remember when 300 yards was considered a long shot. Projectiles and optics have come a long ways.

Didn't listen to the podcast - sounds like something I would enjoy.

I have heard, living in Bozeman, that the Sitka HQ folks could tile all their office bathrooms with unfilled MT elk licenses. It would not be surprising that they need a cushy lease or RFW place for their staff . "athletes" , and "ambassadors" to kill an elk.

Just that

Alot of People's expectations for fall are tied to if they get a 1 year tag, 2 year tag, 10 year tag, 20 year tag....when in reality if they just put 20 year effort into a general and then use the draws as an auxiliary they would have a completely different outlook. But the problem is again...90% of hunters will fail again to put in that kind work. They will lack confidence each spring and fall and there insecurities will show them selves via "bitching"...

You do realize that some states general tags are draw only, right?
You do realize that the trend across many western states is less and less OTC tags and more and more draw tags, right?
You do realize that some of the western states that still do have OTC tags are capped, thus limited in quantity, right?

Lots of people have done it a few times. How many do you know, though, who can make a 1st round vital hit 8-9 times out of 10, on game, in the field, beyond 500 yds?

I'm fortunate enough to know a few really good rifleman. I know it's possible, and I think it can even be ethical. I just think it's a tiny percentage who actually are competent, and the bar is much higher than most think.

Yes

And for the record don't think im just super jacked about alot of social media, YouTube videos, or even rokslide...some if it is terrible...but there is a multitude of other issues going on along with a lack of accountability

It's amazing how many people in AK go on absolute tirades about draw odds, preference points, and how rigged ADFG draws are when the draw results come out each year. They think their whole fall revolves around drawing a tag. It's common to be talking to someone and asking them what hunts they're doing this year or did last year and their response is "None, I didn't draw any tags." To those people, success and time hunting is tied directly to drawing tag. This is in a state where you can literally get 20+ big game OTC tags each year. I've hunted one draw tag in the last 10 years and it was a crowded caribou tag. Probably my least favorite hunt in that time.

I can agree with that in a state that has a lot of OTC opportunity, but take a state like Utah. The opportunity outside of drawing a tag is pretty limited, even more so if you are a deer hunter. Most OTC tags are capped and sell out quickly.

It might certainly be.
Definitely. It’s most certainly not your inability to form and process a cogent thought or entertain anything outside your narrative.

But this is a lot like fishing trips with my dad. Sometimes we’d cast out and catch chubs or carp. After a while it was a decision to keep casting and interacting with undesirable fish or cut bait and just move on. No sense in continuing to cast when what’s biting isn’t worth casting to.

Snip.

They all are. I loved that the first season of BRO Land of the Free was all about public land...then the first episode of season 2 was on private ground...
agreed, first season was great and I watched episodes asap; since then they seem to just get progressively worse as they feel the need to shill more and more sponsors and help out other self promoters. I barely watch half a season anymore and spend most of it fast forwarding. If they’ve done nothing else they’ve helped teach a bunch of people to take poor shots on elk, hope for the best and just kinda say “darn, let’s try again” when it goes poorly
