I am very tempted to pre-order this (from S&S). I've wanted the Garmin ever since coming out, but the pricing has just been too high for me. I'd be only a periodic user for both archery (bow tuning & arrow builds) and rifles (hand loading). Ease of use, small size, lower price are most appealing to me. Even if it isn't 100% on picking up all shots or lacking a bunch of features, I think I would be happy with it for recording basic velocities. So. Temping.

I would love to hear feedback from anyone who might get hands on one early.

We'll be getting one here very soon. We'll do complete side by side testing and publish the results here, our blog, and on youtube. Ill keep everyone posted as we go through the process.

We're pretty confident that it is what they say it is.
Hopefully so. I have a love hate relationship with Garmin. Great products but software and updates drive me crazy with all the problems they have. You'd think that after all these years they'd have figured it out a little better. The Connect workout calendar synch was haywire again the last couple of weeks. Probably had a lot of athletes stressed and pissed off. I know I was.

I just finished completing my pre-order from S&S Archery. I am so ready to sell my huge Labradar with backup power brick, hard case, shooting bench base w/ swivel head, and 3D printed bolt-on aiming assistants.

Should probably put priority on doing that. New Labradars are being advertised for $340 on facebook now.

If the Athlon one is even remotely as good as its supposed to be, resale value on the labradar is going to be a fraction of what it is now.

All for cheaper options, just kind of odd they'd make it look exactly like the Garmin. Innovate a bit, or differentiate somehow. But ya, I'll probably get one haha.

I'm betting what drives the similar form factor is that it's pretty likely there is a commercially available antenna they're all using now. With that dimension settled that sets up what size screen to package.
