Anybody listening to task force meeting.... $1950 for NR special elk tag with a 50/50 split...
$1200 for NR special deer and antelope.
Recommendation passed is and going to legislature....
They need to change their name from WWT to WTF.

LOL. I'll just go and kill coyotes before I pay that kind of money for a deer tag.

Hunting is hunting and venison isn't that good.

The price is steep for sure but the allocation split is what i dont like..You think point creep is bad now in the regular draw..wait till half the available NR tags are $1200/$1950 bucks...Gen tags in any regular draw will be once in a decade.

Glad I drew an elk tag this year.

I'm sure the "Whining about Wyoming Team" (WWT) will have something else to complain about but this seems like good news for NR in Wyoming

Man you were right wyoming looking out for nonresidents.
More tags….lol
The splits going from 60/40 to 50/50 with a huge increase in the special cost. $1900 elk tags and $1200 deer an antelope tags.
You all sure are generous.

Well, I guess all the residents who spoke out for NRs feel differently Glockster.
How many of you wrote in and opposed this proposal ? Betting not many.
Bash the residents when we had nothing to do with this but hey, you'll feel better.
Yes it will mean more tags though, get out your checkbook.
Bet your cheap cow tags are much harder to draw now too.

With friends like you I guess I don’t need too many enemies do I? I’m not pissed at the residents of Wyoming. I think Sy is a no good son of a bitch and the task force is about the largest bunch of retards assembled together in one room that I’ve seen in quite a while. But most of the residents of Wyoming I’ve met seem like all right people.
I don’t know how many people wrote in and neither do you but I can tell you that I did take the time.
This has the potential to turn a general tag from every 4-5 year thing to 10+, in the regular draw. Which have a good and bad side. I think this will slow down the BS that is the 3R’s. In 2024 when this sends regular draw odds to the moon. I think you will see less people willing to buy points for 10 years in the hope of drawing a general tag. Less hunter recruitment and retainment is not necessarily a bad thing.
I will optimistically wait and see if we’re truly going to get more tags.

What specifically are they want to change? Increase the special elk draw to $1950? What is the 50/60 split? I’ve tried keeping up with it, but I’m confused. Thanks for the clarification

Special price increase is going to the legislature with a pass recommendation. Changing special allocations from 40% to 50% needs public comment then the task force will vote on it.

Why do you think the price increase and split to 50% will make the general units an every 10 year hunt, if anything it’ll make it easier to get a general tag as many won’t spend the $1950 to elk hunt and there will be more available.

He is meaning the regular prices general tags I believe. Those odds will get tougher. Honestly from a non-resident standpoint, this beats many of the other possibilities that were on the table. If it makes outfitters happy but still allows a person access to those tags for diy, I'm ok with it.

I’m ok with it, wonder if in time if they’ll move all tags to the special bucket.

I believe they intend to keep a separation but I fully expect to see license fees go up and up in the future. As long as the money continues to be used on sound game management that keeps populations around for generations, I am ok with the increases. The cost of everything has gone through the roof so I'm sure their management expenses are no exception.

Wyoming is just making it more and more attractive for non res hunters to move there.
The difference in an individuals wages for one month would be enough to buy that special license for most on this forum. Wyoming wages vs cost of living sucks.

That makes sense if you couldn’t get a job that allows working fully remote which is going to become more and more the way we work outside of trades/manufacturing etc.

I know you might make less. But instead of paying $1900, + 3 years of points at $50+ a pop, plus the cc fee, ++++ for a general tag. You get to go into your local store, grab an elk and deer tag, and hunt every year.

It’s not just the cost. It’s also the fact you get to hunt every, single, year. Places that take you and I as a non res 8+ years. And if you don’t do any good there, go hit the next opener in a couple weeks in another region.

Wyoming is a resident hunting paradise. That’s a fact.

It’s unlikely there will be a “gen” Elk license. Regulation is being drafted for elk regions.
