Just got a survey request from KDWP...

This email-based survey is sent on behalf of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, who is interested in learning your opinion on a variety of hunting issues. You are among a small group of people asked to participate in this important study. The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete and your answers are very important. The information will ultimately be used to help the agency understand what issues are important to you and deliver programs that are beneficial to all citizens.

Your response and identity will be kept strictly confidential and will never be used for any purpose beyond this study.

Please follow the link below to participate:

This survey is being conducted by Southwick Associates, a well-known research firm that specializes in outdoor recreation. If you have any questions or problems with the survey, please reply to this email, and we will respond as quickly as possible.

Thank you in advance for your time!

With everything going on in CO, OR and WA and other leftist states the following page of questions made me take pause...I can't help but wonder what is the agenda behind them. More ballot box biology? Any other KS residents get this?

I can’t remember when it was this year, but had the same exact questions for Idaho.

I fill them out as the departments do look for feedback. I trust and respect my area biologists and game wardens.

I filled it out honestly but i just found it curious how it was worded and could see how it could be used against us and science based management.

Just received a very similar survey from SD today as well. Interesting.

I am guessing a 3rd party/contractors coordinates some of this stuff and then markets it to different G&F departments to use.

Kansas deer management sucks. KDWP is a very bad agency. I limit interaction with kdwp to only the absolutely necessary...
As a life long kansan who had to move out of state I will disagree on that statement. You don't know what you have till it's gone.

Public area deer population is down 50% from 2010, statewide is also down quite a bit.. Missouri right next door is up.
Kdwp law enforcement is a disgrace. Local state park ranger/manager stole over 10k in cash from the state park and was supposedly fired and not prosecuted but they made him a game warden which was a promotion. That is just one incident of many.
Why anyone would give a state agency any information about themselves they did not have to give is beyond my reasoning

Got the a survey with the same question this week from Michigan. Southwick Associates must be contracted by several states.

I was surprised to see the survey dive into asking what all big game species and states you apply for, even though I was answering as a non resident. It went on to give multiple scenarios with multiple variables and asking which scenario you'd rather choose. Variables included trophy potential vs harvest potential. Running into people vs not running into people. Waiting 1-5 years for a tag vs waiting 5-10 years for a tag. Limited road access vs easy road access.

Then it went so far as asking about R3. You can see one of the R3 questions in the attached image.

I was glad to get a survey like this. It let's me know agencies are aware of some of the current issues in the hunting realm and could.be trying to figure out how to solve them.

I live in and hunt missouri now. Nothing wrong with it but to use it as an example as to why kansas is doing it wrong is laughable. No proof of anything and a tin foil hat last sentence really cement this quality post.

There is plenty of proof for what I said. But believe what you want.
If you do not agree with my personal beliefs thats ok but they are not tin foil. You are naive.

Im pretty certain this survey is standard across many states, it is designed and administered by a third party, I belive at the request of one of the associations of state fish and wildlife management agencies…ie its not a kansas thing, it’s a thing done by a group that kansas dnr is a member of. They do it to compare attitudes of license holders and non-license holders, management and communication between states. If you think kansas is doing a crappy job, fill it out b/c this is them trying to be better. If you think they are doing a good job, fill it out because someone else probably wants them to change how they do things.

More to it than just deer numbers, I didn’t hunt Kansas for their deer numbers.

Haven’t been there since 2020 so maybe it’s gotten worse.

You said kdwp management ain't that bad.....you come for the buck size and :
Exactly how does kdwp management effect the size of the bucks in kansas.

If the herd numbers keep dropping guess what happens to buck numbers..
