Hoyt launched their 2017 bows

To my knowledge, it is a new version of last years cam to address the tune issues of the #2 cam.
Come on now, this isn't AT. It looks like a duck, it walks like a duck, it quacks like a duck, and Hoyt still calls it a duck (DFX). To anyone that supports their pro shop by taking their bow in to get the strings changed and the bow tuned, the only difference is the weight. If what OR said is true you also get less let off for no increase in speed. Don't get me wrong, I know its not all about speed, I still have a Katera XL with the Z3 cams because of how smooth it is. There's just no getting around the fact that Hoyt made no step forward and could be argued that they took a step back (if they lowered the let off from 80% to 75% with no speed increase) with their "new" pro models. On paper the "Pro" models are just about identical to the Katera's from 8 years ago. They are quieter and have less torque than a bow 8 from years ago but I have yet to see them get smoother than the Z3 cam.

I'm not being negative because I like one brand vs. another, just discussing these bows compared to previous years models.

Ding ding we have a winner. ^

I have more respect for companies s that stick with models and make a few tweaks along the way during corse of the years. Seems a whole lot more honest instead of blowing smoke up everyones asses every year.

It's funny, preferences are so subjective. I wasn't a huge fan of the looks of the Nitrum (but it grew on me) and I thought the Defiant was ugly...but the Pro Defiant I really like and they look so similar. I see myself ending up with a Turbo or 34.

Anyone know retail on these two bows? $1100? Mark up for the Buckskin?

I got into that game of buying a new bow every year and didn't really notice much of a change in performance. Now I've been shooting the Faktor for several years and don't see changing any time soon. I do like the new Buck Skin color though.

i like the look of them, especially the new color. ill stick with my carbon spyder 34 though.

maybe send it somewhere to change up from the black to make me feel like i got a new bow.

I'll be keeping my defiant 34 another year it tuned fine for me with #3 cams, I'm not a brand fan boy but I'll be looking ahead to what Hoyt does in 2018 as well as prime, elite, xpedition and Mathews

It is amazing that guys can look at an online catalog and know everything there is to know about a given bow. Impressive. Some folks actually shoot them as a component of forming their impression.

Hoyt basically didn't ship carbon bows last year due to some QC concerns. No one should be shocked if sales declined. Nor should they take it as a broader commentary on the company.

Considering they didn't change a anything meaningful from last years bows it's safe to say they will shoot the same.

You guys are killings my fanboy boner with the negative waves. I would like to continue to have wet dreams about a buckskin defiant pro 34 for a while longer, please. In my dreams it makes me shoot like Stallone in Rambo 2 where the animals I hit...on the run...at 100 yards or greater...just explode into perfectly portioned, freezer ready butcher packs and stack themselves neatly into a new, equally cool kirfaru wonder pack.

It's intetesting the only guy on this thread who has shot the new bows feels differently. I guess we disagree on the definition of "safe".

I might try one of the new Carbon Air 34's from PSE, 3.6 pounds for a knuckledragger bow isn't too bad...and they go up to 90% let-off lol. That being said, a new Stalker Stickbow is first priority, I haven't even had my compound out of the case since like April.

I look forward to shooting them, and see how it feels. Last year was the first of the last 4 I did not buy a new bow, and am still shooting a 2015 Carbon Spyder Turbo. I really like this bow, and did not see any performance changes from 15 to 16 so I stuck with it. If anything, I liked the steeper string angle of my old CS30 so it will be interesting to see if the change in cam has a real effect on the draw cycle.

I'm gonna get the Pro Defiant 34 in Buckskin, because I want one. If I'm spending that much money, it's going to look EXACTLY how I want it. The #3 cam in the C slot tunes up just fine.

Haven't received those yet. Honestly I didn't run into much of the tuning issues others claim to of had with the 2016. Had one Hyper Edge #3 with an issue but that's it. All others I set up tuned fine. Required a few changes to how I set them up compared to past years though.

Yea all the Defiants I tuned up great. Easy and good shooting bows. I'm gonna guess the people having
Issues don't know how to tune a bow

Still digging my 2014 Carbon Spyder Turbo, all the changes that have occurred to the carbon bows since have seemed minor. But I'm just a newb when it comes to these things.

The carbon risers, yep. I've got an Element and a '15 CST that I both love. I'm looking at a the Pro Defiant on looks alone. If they steered their carbon bows back to looking like the CE/CM again, I'd be interested. That's one of the coolest looking bows ever.

I agree! Matrix is my favorite look of the carbon bows
