Anyone use any of the Born and Raised Outdoors reed calls? Any good? Wondering how they compare to the Phelps? (I thought in the past they were made by Phelps, but it looks like now they aren't? )

That’s good to know, but I was trying to steer clear of Phelps since they got bought by MeatEater ( which is owned by the Chernin Group) … I try as best I can to buy from independent businesses (whenever possible… not always feasible…)I won’t purchase one on ethics alone. Jason Phelps is a great guy, he sponsored Born and Raised early on and showed them his call making operation. They took everything he taught them and started their own call company, that’s shady in my opinion and anyone who would do that is someone I refuse to support.
There are plenty of good call makers out there who don’t ratfuk good people to buy call from.

Is BRO owned by a bigger firm? Any other independent call makers out there?
For $1500 you can buy the equipment and start your own call company.
They did a poor job hiding one of my favorite units a few years ago. Fortunately for us, they didn't punch a tag on that trip. We were in there the next week and tagged out (2)I took issue with one of their videos last year which sucks as I’ve been a fan for years. I just couldn’t stomach that elk video on many levels but it clearly showed the unit which is mine lol. It had drone footage going during a flight restriction ban in place so the planes and helicopters could fight the fire and it was obvious to me they were hunting landowners tags which is absolutely fine but they did not own it. For sure they were or they were hunting closed public lands due to the extreme fires. I won’t buy anything else from them. All in an effort to make a fitness influencer a hunting celebrity. That said I’ve used Phelps reeds for years and this season I found a couple slayers I really like. Rocky Mountains feel a bit small to me but that brown one I’ve used for years.
That’s pretty much where I’m at. Phelps and Riven are the only two options I need, starting to lean more on Riven, they make good stuffI won’t purchase one on ethics alone.
