Had the chance to grab a bottle of Blanton's yesterday for $70. But I still got about 1/3 of my current bottle left. It's amazing bourbon but I like to play in the $30 ish price range and would really only splurge if I was out of any high end stuff

I would have bought that in a heartbeat! I can never find Blanton's on the shelf for less than $200. The last liquor store that had it wanted $300. Nuts.

I’ve been on a Jefferson’s Ocean Voyage kick lately - voyages 15 and 19 are wheated and pretty good. I just stumbled upon IW Harper 15 yr and I’m very impressed.
if you’re into Rye’s, I just got some Basil Hayden 10 yr rye and like it

I’ve got a fairly good supply of Blanton’s, and when I find it, it’s $65-70. I would never pay over that and there is so much better out there for $75.00 and over

I’m up at the my uncles cabin for the weekend doing some chores. He pulled out a bottle of Blanton’s this evening for a sample. Hands down my favorite bourbon I’ve ever tasted! So incredibly smooth, with very enjoyable notes.

So, is there a bourbon your feel is similar or better than Blanton’s? I know it’s a subjective question, but to the more experienced bourbon drinkers, is there a bourbon with similar flavor profile and smoothness?
IMHO anything "better" than blantons will be $$$ or very difficult to get. For me it is where price, quality, and availability meet on the curve...although availability is decreasing rapidly. If you can find it Stagg Jr. is a little better in my opinion. Closest in the value category is probably Eagle Rare to my pallet.

Blanton's is good but I think there's plenty of other good-great whiskey for similar price and way easier to get. I won't hunt it down and I won't pay more than retail for it.

Haven't seen Evan Williams bottled in bond mentioned, maybe I missed it. That's a great bang for your buck. Good for mixing an old fashioned or mint julep as the proof holds up to being watered down, but I also don't mind sipping it.

This thread has encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and experiment a bit. My stand by's have been Bulliet and Eagle rare. Picked up a bottle of Angel Envy and found it outstanding along with a bottle of Four Roses small batch that I liked but not as well. First time I had seen Angel Envy at my local liquor store, hoping they have some more because my bottle died this past weekend.

Evan Williams Bottled in Bond is very good and low cost. I keep a bottle or 2 at all times. Another favorite is Heaven Hill 6 year Green Label. Only available here in KY. They are discontinuing it, so I have to stock up on it at $12 a bottle.

What are some that you consider great at that price? Anything you like better?

Cracked a WB Saffell this evening. Really good, but above the price point of Blanton’s. It runs $50 for 375ml in my area. Also have a Blood Oath sitting in the basement hiding from the wife.

I know all bourbons have different qualities, but haven’t tasted one yet as smooth at Blanton’s. Dangerously easy to drink.

I just had an E.H. Taylor SIngle Barrel this weekend. It was surprisingly smooth and good drinking. I also tried the Michters bourbon and it was exceptional. Definitely oakier than the EH Taylor though.
